The only ARGs I think are unironically good are anything made by Alan Resnick, the Slenderman ARGs (like Marble Hornets as a prime example), Petscop, the Ben Drowned ARG, and I am Sophie (though it's more unfiction but it's good as satire on "Trendy" Youtube celebrity culture) to name a few.

Most ARGs are either boring, only interesting if someone were to regurgitate it, or so bad they are hilarious (Best example is "Hiding in my Home" which is just two autismos larping in some sort of Death Note style of dynamics with one fat A-Log and some edgelord good at editing)

I would disagree with Ben Drowned, the story itself is decent, if a bit cliché at this point given all the stories that have taken its basic premise. However I find the ARG aspect to not be particularly good, the stories is much better if you ignore everything after Ben escapes. There's a reason people remember the 4chan posts and videos, but don't really know about the ARG bit.

Moving from that I've always loved the Wyoming Incident, I find it funny that this video that many people believed was a real broadcast intrusion is basically a lead in to one of the messiest ARGs ever. Knowing that there's a version of that video which is a advert for Cash 4 Gold of all fucking things just brings a big smile to my face.

I know a lot of us don't like Night Mind because he's a boring hack who shills shitty ARGs nonstop, but his video on the topic is great because you can literally hear him losing his mind as he tries to explain exactly what the fuck actually happened with this shit. Judging by how most of the comments are about how viewers still don't understand jackshit about the whole thing, he clearly failed, and I honestly can't blame him. The fucking thing makes no goddamn sense.

Also yes YouTube is making it harder and harder for stuff "we" generally like to exist on the platform. SpookyRice's videos keep getting deleted apparently so he has to upload to Bitchute.

Spooky is a whole ass little treat. His informal delivery meshes with his admittedly pretty good breakdowns to create this popcorn binge-watchable channel out of some shit that is inherently non-bingeable.

I hope he doesn't get completely shoahed but with the way YT is going and how fast he blew up, who knows?

Another one in the same vein that's been around for 10+ years but flies under the radar is Horrible Reviews. He uploads infrequently and occasionally the channel is dead in the water for it, but there's an extensive backlog of videos and his "disturbing part x" entries are a good way to find niche titles. Just a chill Dutch dude drinking beer and watching movies.

Honestly my issue with NightMind is more of how much of an egotistical pretentious dick he is that acts like he knows everything about ARGs and knows more than the creators of each one. He also has that annoying tone to his voice trying to act like a father figure.

One thing that always bugged me is how some people seem to find deep voices like inherently sexy no matter how obnoxious they sounds. I don't know about you but I can only listen to Night Mind for so long and this is really embarrassing to admit but I used to begrudgingly listen to Corpse Husband's "True Creepy Stories" videos back when that genre was at it's highpoint and he was just breaking like 100k subs.

That motherfucker's voice grinded on me back then and it's even worse in his current music. His music is like legit cringe content to me, I actually cannot listen to more than like 10 seconds without pausing, trying to process it and starting again just so that I can say I've actually listened to him when I say he's shit but I usually give up and can't listen to the whole thing anyway. Can anyone break down to me how he's gained a cult for fangirls who think his disembodied voice is sexy? This was kind of around back then but he's skyrocketed in popularity recently and I just don't understand it.

Like, both Night Mind and Corpse seem like okay guys, I don't really have an issue with them as people or even most of their work but their voices fucking bother me and how people act about Corpse is like second-hand embarrassment.

Apparently. I just stopped looking into it a moment ago because while it seemed interesting at first for the same reason you said (obscure game), there's about 2 minutes' worth of extremely empty gameplay that rushes to do the weird stuff.

I was into this stuff when the WI was nothing more than the interruption video. While it was another gay art project, just leaving it at the video alone would of been more than enough to justify its existence as it was genuinely creepy and leaving a mystery around it made it enjoyable. When I learned there was this whole contrived nonsense backstory to it, my hatred for ARG's started. It would of been perfectly creepy on its own, turning it into an ARG is when you enter the realm of "trying way too fuckin hard". It's a story I always wanted to know more about, but having more story just ruins the mystery and intrigued the original video held on its own.
