A surprising amount of people, actually. Or maybe not surprising, since people don't give two shits about a disease that is unlikely to kill them or the insane amounts of hurdles thrown in their way like mandatory face-burkas or quarantines. These are individual human beings and not numbers of "uninfected" or whatever, they weighed the risk to travel, and they did.

If they really wanted to stop travel, they'd close the airlines down instead of the airlines closing themselves down from lack of demand (temporarily of course) and then giving them a fuckton of money that is mostly going to go to the CEOs or to pay off airline debt instead of actually keeping a single job.

Now obviously older people on this forum have gone through this experience themselves. But now that the post war population boom that were the baby boomers are passing on the death rate is going to rise fast, and the millennials are getting their first taste of death

It's a sick parody of historic mass death events like world wars and is basically the equivalent of General Ripper deciding we need a nuclear war because the commies attack us and insisting he's right now matter how many times he's proven wrong. Because that's what this is, a grand mistake, the second worst mistake (literally, in terms of economic damage and pointless deaths from suicide, unchecked cancer, and decreased quality of life) in the history of mankind after the never (yet) taken greatest mistake which is starting a nuclear war on a false alarm.

Nearly every single nation has decided to commit suicide and damn the vast majority of their population to misery instead of bite the bullet and take a few excess deaths among the elderly and infirm. It defies common sense and it's totally unsurprising why people suspect nefarious plots from behind the scenes.

With the COVID-19 passports and with what we've learned from public health this year, the government can legally declare Californians a bunch of AIDS-infested scum and ban them from leaving their state on penalty of arrest as they are a threat to public health (which trumps liberty and common sense). Anyone with a California COVID-19 vaccine card is subject to this rule, and we all know you'll have to present this internal passport everywhere you go. And they can do that with any state, county, or even city, so hotspots like Portland, Austin, Seattle, Chicago, NYC, and Boston are next.
