Especially when there's even higher rates of complications with FtM surgeries. Urethral fistulas and lithiasis (urinary tract stones) forming, hairs in the urethra - if you've ever had a pubic hair poking into your urethra you know how painful that is. That's apparently common with procedures where they lengthen the urethra and inadvertently use hairy skin, say, for repairing hypospadias in men, or for making a frankendong for a trans-identifying female. Mercifully no gory photos in this one but the description had me crossing my legs. "Urethral lithiasis after phalloplasty" https://casereports.bmj.com/content/12/7/e229825.full
Then you get urethral strictures, where it gets too tight to pass urine properly. This poor TIF describes lots of complications she's had and revisions she's needed, and using mucosa from her mouth to fix the urethra (which at least isn't hairy, but she says they couldn't use it in the first procedure because of infection risk): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hW0mmt_fAo
