A little off topic, but @Very Honest Content, if you feel the need to consistently down-vote people for making bitingly humorous observations (and quite a few valid critiques!) about Shaner and upvoting @The_Knight_Rider's absurdist, non-responsive, utterly meritless retorts, then maybe this isn't the thread for you.

There are quite a few other threads to read on the Farms if you think we're collectively going too far here (or the general direction of this thread just doesn't appeal to you).

Len sent this to me for you guy's to see. Schuylkill Canal Day .
That's where he was all day. Nice try on the arrested rumor.

I did a little digging, and found the following photos, which show that the pics you posted were indeed taken earlier today at Schuylkill Canal Day.

The first is of the canal jousting event that you claim to have photographed:

The second, however, is far more instructive.

This wider shot shows us the vantage point from which "you" took the picture you posted. Here we see a man in a red shirt, tan shorts, and a navy blue / purple ball cap, with a camera around his neck in the exact position (top of the stairs, left arm resting on the railing) where the photos you claim to have taken were taken, 15 minutes before you claim to have taken them.

Now, I will grant that the photo is a bit grainy. And the man in question is a chubby white guy in his 50s. But that gut is nowhere near your now legendary Drooping Belly of Fail.

I will find the actual photographer. Whose work you stole and posted as your own (with a copyright symbol!!!) on these pages.

Willful copyright infringement isn't just wrong, it is a federal crime. And, happily enough, a full dozen (give or take) of my law school classmates are now federal prosecutors.

Don't worry, I'll be truly surprised if anything comes of it. But when little shits like you keep playing with fire, they eventually wind up burning on someone's doorstep. Just sayin' . . .

PS. Field agents who are friends with Lenny on Facebook: If you get a moment, save me some time and check to see if any of the myriad local photographers he follows/stalks (a) look like Navy/Purple Ball Cap Man, and (b) posted similar photos on his page.

Edit: It seems that I am visually impaired. As @A MALE JERK points out, infra, Ball Cap Man isn't the photographer based on the angles.

That said, I am still certain that Shaner stole this from a real professional photographer, put his own copyright notice on it, and made it publicly available on a computer network, thus committing a federal crime.

In reply to @Pocket_Sand! (and respectful disagreement with @Gook Choy ), I think @The_Knight_Rider really does choose to live like this. At least in a sense.

As I've said earlier, lolcow-dom seems to occur at the nexus of sociopathy and high-functioning autism. If you're a just a sociopath, you can neurologically comprehend social norms, etc. So, even though you don't care about the needs/feelings of others, you act of out of self-preservation. If you're just an autist (like myself* and what I estimate to be 30 to 40 percent of the membership here), you'll be motivated to fix your quirks/socially unacceptable behaviors because they hurt people. Even if it's hard for you to understand why, you'll put effort into finding out.

But, if you're an autistic sociopath, you won't see why anything's wrong. And since your outrageous behaviors usually don't affect you directly (it's only their cumulative effect that leads to consequences, such as being banned from video game stores or railroads), you don't see any need to change since you are the only one who matters and therefore you're always in the right.

So, is @Gook Choy right when he says that it's ingrained into Len's synapses? In a sense yes. Personality disorders have a strong biological component and rarely change in adulthood. His fucked up neurology strongly predisposes him to making comically awful choices (that we then laugh at). But at the end of the day, I think it's clear to anyone with an interest in such things (although I admit that I am not an expert -- perhaps one of the resident Kiwi psychologists would like to chime in here) that these are choices.

Lenny isn't the fastest locomotive on the line (almost said "sharpest tool in the shed," but thought better of it), but he's definitely not "mentally retarded" by the DSM IV** standards. Yes, he has trouble with spelling, but that is probably the result of dyslexia and/or his legendary laziness and unwillingness to learn/change/better himself. When he's not raging with butthurt, his sentence structure is actually quite decent. And, ultimately, I think that's what makes people like Steamin' Lenny or Pristine Christine of such great interest here: Comically bad things happen to them not because they can't help it, but as a result of their own choices. There are plenty of people who are far more "retarded" by DSM IV standards who manage to have jobs and families and happy, unremarkable lives.

With this kind of cow, the point isn't playing "kick the autistic," it's taking a small moment of delight in watching a cow's autism pave the way for his/her sociopathy to get the kind of result it truly deserves.

*Diagnosis and everything.

**Yes, I know the DSM V gets rid of "mental retardation" and places it under the more nebulous umbrella of "developmental disabilities," but I think the more specific diagnosis is still legitimate and relevant to our discussion here.

"Colebrookdale Rail Ale" is not a euphemism. Like many companies, CRR contracts their own label of beer (it's actually quite easy/affordable to do if you're buying in any significant quantity). Keeping the riders good and drunk both adds to their profit margin and helps distract the customers from the fact that they're paying $30+ to ride in a circle on what amounts to a large toy train.

I'm not a psychologist, but I would consider narcissism more likely than sociopathy. Sociopathy means no empathy, but it doesn't mean they won't make the connection between their behavior and bad things happening to them. Especially if it's explained to them.

Narcissism, on the other hand, involves a complete denial of any facts that cast them in a bad light. They can't possibly conceive of themselves having any shortcomings. They're absolutely perfect, and the only explanation for anyone not liking them is that they're just an asshole. Anyone who dislikes them clearly don't know who they are as a person. They're being lied to. There's a conspiracy to keep them down. They will reshape their reality to one in which they have done no wrong, and everyone should just automatically know what a True and Honest wonderful person they are.

Because of this mindset, no advice anyone gives about correcting the lolcow's behavior will ever sink in. If anything, they'll just consider it JERK behavior and do the opposite, creating a positive feedback loop of fail that only ends when the lolcow crashes into slumber due to a grand amount of stress.

PS - @Photographer, you seem to know Mr Shaner well enough that you can confirm or deny the things being said in this thread. Are we all making a mistake about the character of Mr Shaner?

Willful copyright infringement can be a crime under certain circumstances, but not inherently. Nevertheless, putting fraudulent copyright notices on a work is copyfraud, I believe. Civil, criminal, either way, what Len did was illegal there. And, it looks like what Len did is a crime too.[1]
