Trashfire Apollo Legend suicide

Yes, after the video by EZScape he namedropped in his suicide note. Which in turn happened months after the lawsuit was dropped because Apollo kept completely silent about the money.
EZScape accused him of taking the money and spending it on a settlement for Billy Mitchell

Then he refunds the money

What scam was committed here? He did exactly what he said he would.

I think Null should put a partial lock on this thread, yo cannot post here unless you can beat NES SMB in less than 5:35 (being real generous here).
There's a lot of stupid takes from ppl that can't even do 4-1 right.

... Now jokes and BS aside, didn't Nick Rekieta hyped up Apollo on the lawsuit against Billy before the fucking crushing defeat and downfall? Maybe this is the start of a pattern, maybe that rapist voice actor is next, maybe Nick Rackets is the grim reaper of legal advice. Listening to him could be the equivalent of writing your name on a death note.

Rackets is solid lawyer whose heart is in the right place, but I do think he overhypes lawsuits that are extremely hard to win.

Vic's case was extremely hard to prove since Sexual Harassment really is tantamount to hearsay. Same for the Richard Meyer one because how could you determine that it was really Waid's sperging that resulted in his comic getting delayed?

When it comes to Apollo Nick was definitely right that Apollo could have won it. Billy's lawsuits are total horseshit. But unless you got legal representation willing to fight hard it's going to cost a lot of money to defend yourself.

If I remember correctly Dick Masterson claimed Maddox cost him around six figures over that insanely insipid lawsuit.

TL;DR don't get sued. American legal system is designed to only enrich the lawyers.

Rickets is a family lawyer, so anything he says outside of that should be taken with a huge grain of salt. I don't think he's trying to mislead people into thinking he's qualified to do anything but understand jargon and proceedings, I think he just takes it for granted way too much that people fully understand that about him.

His show is entertainment. I occasionally enjoy his hot takes but there is way more in play that what his summaries usually entail. He isn't involved in the cases directly but is able to sum up things in a layman perspective.

The main issue was that he probably couldn't defeat the case with an anti-SLAPP motion, and his income was not exactly such that he could front a long legal fight. From all reports, his health was pretty poor, and had been for years. His video output was inconsistent at best due to this, and his collaborators and friends have said it wasn't unusual for him to go silent for months due to it. Of course, nobody outside of his circle really knew that, but still, the result was that he wasn't exactly sitting on a massive war chest to engage in a lengthy defamation case.

So his options would've been begging for a huge amount of money (and, quite frankly, he probably couldn't have raised enough doing that anyway), or acquiesce and hope to get a decent enough settlement. I don't think we actually know what, if any, cash he had to pay; it's possible he didn't have to pay anything, or only a nominal amount. It's also possible it took him straight to brokesville.

How in the hell does anyone win a tort if a case where a fuckhead openly admits to putting the squeeze on your publisher fails to pan out?
By dragging out the lawsuit for literally years arguing about shit like jurisdiction even though you lose over and over and over again, until the other guy has had it or runs out of money and gives up.

Another layer falling between the cracks here that you may not pick up on is that Apollo Legend and EZScape were good friends - quite good friends, for years up until EZScape did that video.

In his suicide note, when Apollo writes "The speedrun community are such hypocrites... They tell me they agree with me privately and then publicly betray me" he's 100% talking about EZScape.

Apollo basically told me that EZScape abruptly ended their friendship by ghosting him and making this 45-minute exposure
when merely a week prior EZScape was acting as a shoulder of confidence for Apollo and assuring him he was "on his side."

Not only can you see their friendship in the old trailers for Oceanside, but when Apollo was a bigger channel than EZScape, he was always plugging him.

I know I'm biased, but whereas I think Viper is largely a piece of shit in that he's your typical narcissistic streamer who is very happy to have built his platform canceling Apollo and is even happier now to have been "victimized" by him from the grave, I sincerely believe EZScape hurt Apollo in a way only a long-standing friend can.

EDIT: It was this twitlonger he was referring to in EZscape ghosting him after consoling him privately a week earlier

I've said it once and I'll say it again. EZscape is a backstabbing grifter no better than brittany venti. All he has going for him is that he 'seems' normal compared to the rest of the spedrunning community.

Uhm actually Apollo Legend deserved it because he defended Goose and Goose said things you're not supposed to say. OHNONONONO YOU CAN'T SAY THE NIGGER WORD AND 13/50!!!!!!!!!!! Why are you respecting his memory? Don't you know he stole refunded money for a failed project!?

If that's what it means to be a nazi then nazi's are pretty fucking based. Viper and EZscape are useful idiots for trannies trying to purge wrongthinkers, and anyone willing to not disavow their friends on command.

He makes so much from e-begging on twitch that is pennies to him. Really doubt he has sympathy for someone he clearly disliked in life just because he an heroed, especially considering his last act in life was an attempt to fuck him over by pinning the suicide on him.
He said in one of his videos that he makes multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars. It really is pennies to him

I think one of the key takeaways from 2020, for me, was that crowdfunded Internet lawsuits will often get really gay and lead to a ridiculous amount of drama. We had Vic, Meyer, and this.

Obviously, Apollo was correct in calling out Mitchell (and Rogers) on his cheating. He wasn't a voice in the wilderness on that. One need only consult Jace Hall's in-depth analysis of Michell's Donky Kong footage to agree Mitchell used MAME in contravention of the rules. It doesn't matter if Mitchell were skilled enough to do it on real hardware. It's a credibility issue. I'm sure Lance Armstrong was a talented cyclist too.

Where I think Apollo went off the rails was when Apollo made it his life's mission to try and destroy Mitchell legally, and crowd fund a lawsuit to do it. He set certain expectations for himself and others. Why? I'm still not sure I comprehend it. Just strip the faggot's record (as TG did) and ridicule him. It's bad enough to point out there's a guy whose major life accomplishment was setting a high score in an early 80s arcade game nobody (not even boomers like me) gives a shit about anymore.

Anyways, I enjoyed many of Apollo's videos. RIP.

Ya. Who ever let Apollo think it was a good idea to tangle with Billy in court was giving him bad advice. Especially over something so pointless.
Mitchel is a millionaire who enjoys being the Heel. The type of dude who would think nothing of spending 80K court to perpetuate that reputation.

>Bill needed to be called out on his cheating!
He promoted the shit of a movie that cast him as the villain and basically insinuated that he cheated. He went to events with Steve W his supposed enemy. He has/had a KoK themed Arcade and put out KoK hotsouce. I read they where hoping to keep the hype up for another movie or tv drama. It's all Kayfabe but these speedrun autists can't grasp that.

Has there been actual confirmation of this yet? I still haven't seen it. Been wondering since it was announced when it would come up. Guy could be in the behavioral health unit as we speak.

Also pretty sure all these autismos in that community will let uppity over emulated runs considering most people don’t own an NES anymore.
You can already submit runs for Super Mario Bros. playing on an emulator. There are just more rules for those submissions to help prevent cheating.

In almost any speedrun you can use am emulator, your run would just be in a separate category if emulated runs gave you an advantage.

From the tone of your post I can tell you dont care but there was already controversy in the sonic speed ruining community years ago with emulators vs console runs, so you can always look that up if you wanna see autismos getting uppity.

More on topic though Rip Apollo Legend living with constant pain sucks.
