He's not wrong. One can use datapacks to manipulate the drop rates without ever modifying a single file of the main game. A clean file in no way vindicates him and his "reluctance" or whatever, flushing the folder often doesn't really matter. Monte Carlo methods isn't average knowledge. The person who wrote that pile of shit clearly has some education in statistics and mathematics, it's just that theories are applied in dumb and absurd ways. Either this was intentional to make Dream look innocent, or math and stats aren't the person's expertise is something we might never know.
The person might be a legitimate astrophysicist. That could explain why he used Monte Carlo methods instead of better analytical methods that yield accurate results. Physics and astronomy are chaotic shit and there's so many interactions, an analytical method is often not practical or downright impossible. He might have only ever learned basic regression analysis and Monte Carlo methods to supplement his research. This sort of shit is usually tossed at people more knowledgeable anyway. So don't be surprised when a physicist fucks up something very basic in math.
With that being said, the error in his python code is unforgivable and I doubt he has a PhD, maybe just a graduate.
