Meyer appears to have a diehard fanbase of 2000±50 backers who will back whatever he puts forward no matter the quality. 499 Book One, according to BackerKit estimates, is set to make $62,000±13K. This would place it smack-dab in the middle of DaYT:TBoN and PANdemIC, a threshold that appears to place it at the the bottom of "big-name" projects but above all the "small-name" projects (the champion of whom is Peregrine: Wings of the Falcon).

Not really, I prefer trades over floppies any day of the week. I'd also experience buyers remorse if Zack pulled a Clint Stoker and broke up Iron Sights into several Alterna comics and sold them each for around $2. My main gripe with Iron Sights was the transitions from panel to panel was very disjointed, I felt like panels were missing to help the sequential art tell a visually coherent story. In addition as you previously mentioned Ibai Canale's art is an acquired taste and didn't feel good enough for the price tag, I recall pictures floating around on social media of pencil lines that hadn't been properly erased. Not to mention Zack's writing on the story was very inside baseball and the motivations for some characters was laughably bad. I gave the second issue a shot, to see if Zack had improved but from all reports it appears that the second issue is somehow worse than the first.
It's been relatively slow in Comicsgate given the Christmas and New Years spirit, but here's a minor update on some things that may have been missed.
Fake Mister Dongs and Fake Smug Freiza, internet trolls Dickard and Glenn returned for a New Years livestream. The stream briefly featured Glenn catching Dickard up on some recent Comicsgate events including some retardation from Warcampaign and Liam Gray's embarrassing DMs to Frog. The shows format eventually turned into a call in show and featured minor CG personality Jmoney, Youtube Commentator DA Talks, Trash Compactor show host @TESTEFY-HD, and internet drama reporter @Spectre_06. The stream became something else entirely when Weeb Wars lolcow Spirit Junior joined the panel, providing a humorous CG/WW crossover event. While the stream itself was relatively unimportant in regards to Comicsgate, the livestream could signal a return of the dynamic duo of Dick and Glenn to Comicsgate after a several month hiatus.
Regular Oz Show panelist and Comicsgate musician Lord Finatra fired up what was in the beginning a comic shill stream, until allowing a very drunk Warcampaign elevated member Panboy Soychild Donglover/Matt Hanson on the stream at the 52 minute mark. The drunken Panboy opens by accusing Finatra of being a "kiwi faggot who doesn't back books" and goes into a passive aggressive drunken tirade against his host which slowly escalates over the next ten minutes before @TESTEFY-HD joins the panel at the 1hr 1min mark. What follows is a two hour bloodsports match between Pan and Testefy over Comicsgate, Warcampaign, Nasser, clout, book buying, kiwifarms and several other topics I can't remember. It would appear that Matt's panties are still in a twist over his doxing several months prior.
The most interesting part of the stream is when a drunken Pan, very stupidly admits he knows Testefy's wife backs books on his behalf and he has the backer number in some weird "I know who you are" intimidation flex. Once Testefy presses how Pan knows this, when only Ro and Gat Hanzo are privy to the backer information, Pan quickly realizes this error in judgment and attempts to back pedal. Kiwifarms on ground reporter @Mister Dongs wasn't having any of it.
Given that backer information is considered sacrosanct in Comicsgate and Indie crowdfunding at large, why Panboy is throwing out information he should not have access to remains a mystery. Given that Ro and Gat are the only two who have access to the information, Ro as campaign manager and Gat as the fulfillment arm of Vestige, we can only speculate that one or both of these individuals has broken the cardinal rule of using backer information against their own customers.
Ro and Gat have not been approached over this incident and therefore didn't have the chance to decline to comment.
The final piece of autism on the periphery of Comicsgate was the recent Oz Show #55 which had since returned to it's regularly scheduled programming of a boring snorestream of the same faces after the climatic #53 stream several weeks ago. The stream gets interesting at around the 3hr mark when a drunken Berserk Guts begins a cryptic rant into knowing a lot of back room dealings that will be exposed soon. Berserk Guts similarly to Pan gets baited into talking about things he probably shouldn't, hinting that many smaller CG creators (Liam) are unhappy with Comicsgate's recent direction under Frog. Berserk Guts claims that once certain projects are fulfilled (possibly Xenotype and Vestige 2), that a lot of this dirty laundry will be aired out in the open and he can't be specific or he'll get people "in trouble." What followed was the drunken self confessed barbarian being ridiculed as a "gossip girl" by his fellow panelists and as a "pussy" by the chat. Given Berserk's recent tour as an apologist for Warcampaign and a major Liam simp, it's likely that either or both are the source of his drunken innuendo's.
The last minor piece of news was both Frog and the Dirtworm each doing celebratory streams at the same time for their reaching of 140K and 200K subs respectively. Doug's meteoric rise in Youtube's ranking has come from his recent foray into Trumpian politics, which appears to be paying off in terms of subs and views.
Whether or not Doug can transfer this newfound audience into buyers of his comic books remains to be seen, however so far CG 2021 is looking like it's the Year of the Worm.

I see Brian Shearer is on there. He's running a crowdfund on IndieGogo, The Art of Brian Shearer. Yesterday his project was at a miserable 89 backers. Today after appearing on a stream with 30,000 backers and 200K subs, his project is at... 89 backers. In short, I don't see more success changing Doug TenNapel's nature - if he invites you to "sup at his table", the inference is that you better bring your own meal.
I think it's anyone's guess if Meyer's 2000 diehards are going to stick with him through this drive to fully commit himself to the Brian Pulido model and sustain Ya Boi Zack for presumably the rest of his life. However 499, a book he is not involved outside the capacity of "producer", is projected to close at 1000 backers which is not a good sign.

LOYAL. Doug's channel will be a 1M sub channel by inauguration. I'm watching guys like Liberal Hivemind absolutely destroy in sub counts and views. It's political comfort for Conservatives when we're out of power, and there's no limit to how big that can become.
Doug is now going to find out that there's more money in YouTube than there is in comics, and for a fellow narcissist, YouTube is a much better fit for him.
Can he sell comics with that crowd? I suppose? But honestly, I make a nice six figure income on YouTube with just my sub count. Doug will do much better as a fulltime YouTuber. Watch and see!

Depends on how the runoffs go. It's a high risk gamble because when the dems take the senate Tuesday and biden is sworn in the new subs will probably just not buy the comics but they'll watch a video here and there. I hope he can turn the new subscribers into customers because he got about 3 weeks to cash out on the election content unless he wants to be a full blown political channel and make short videos covering biden's fuckups. You don't give copium addicts hopium, Like his video on Trump flipping Arizona wasn't a smart idea.

Disagree completely. They're all in this together. So when Biden is sworn in, and Hopers are crushed, they'll likely look to Hopium YouTube Channels to soothe them.
It's a fairly easy pivot to make...Just go full on Rachel Maddow for four years, talking shit about Biden.
Here's the thing. If Doug maintains this growth, he'll be bringing in $600-800K per year. No joke. But it's a full time job, reading up on the bullshit political sites and making 3-5 videos per day.

Cross-over fights are always a fun time. But wasn't good ol Jarbo at one point trying to insert himself into CG or the star wars shit, and he and @FROG got into it and Ethan told him to fuck off, then shit mysteriously started getting flagged on his channel? My Matt lore is a little rusty, especially since there's such a big trail of shit behind Jarbo that a mountain can be formed from it.

He called into my High Council show and we beat him up and embarrassed him for our audience, and he's been angry in his tummy since. He may have false flagged my video about him, which Metokur used in his Ballad of Mundane Matt summation of his downfall.

After some quick searching I think the stream Metokur was referring to in the above clip was the High Council episode aired on the 31st of July 2018, Mundane Matt enters at 1:24:43 [timestamp embedded in link]
Which resulted in Matt getting butthurt and potentially flagging Frog's channel sometime around in early August 2018.
Frog did another livestream extrapolating on Mundane Matt's regret after he was exposed.
Which was followed by Metokur's The Ballad of Mundane Matt, after Matt was exposed on the Killstream.
