They can’t fathom the third option, which is Trump is so hated in this country (he never had more than 50% approval his entire tenure) that people would vote for a bowl of hair versus having to deal with him another four years.

What’s scary is that trumps team believes it, or at least tries very hard to maintain that belief in the little emperors brain. Hence him not fathoming the disparity between his rally crowds vs votes cast. He really seems to think it’s impossible that he lost. Weeks ago I figured he was a grifter that was at least aware of his own scam, but he’s just as deluded as his own followers about himself. He really, truly thinks he’s a beloved president by most of the country.

To some extent it helps explain his rapturous supporters. He really is the first president to be like them in the sense of believing the nonsense spewed by hate radio in to their tiny little minds daily. Republicans were happy to use the birther movement to rally opposition to the Democrats, but very few of them were willing to actually assert it to be true. Meanwhile, Trump is listening and believing every word.

It's kind of terrifying to realise the lunatics have taken over the asylum. Republicans have spent years cultivating these crazies. After all, it's difficult to get elected when your natural base is a few thousands obnoxious rich people and when your every policy fucks the poor in the ass without lube on a daily basis. Somehow they thought they'd get away with this indefinitely, but now thanks to Trump it's no longer acceptable to keep quiet in DC and let the crazy play out entirely in Sisterfuck, Arkansas. Now you have to be vocally for the madness or you're a RINO and you're going to be out of a job.

How many cycles will we be seeing candidates running on a platform of "If elected, I'll overturn the 2020 election results"? I'm going to guess until the 2040's, if we don't have a civil war by then.

All of the yes-men surrounding him have an obvious financial incentive in continuing to entertain and reinforce his delusions, so that their service is rewarded by the war chest he's got and will continue to draw once he leaves office. No-one exists in his circle of advisors that will tell him he's ass-naked, because it benefits not a one of them to do so.

Turnout is down 20% in northern GA which is Trump country and counts are complete there. Runoffs always have less voters though. There are also a lot of reports of very low turnout today which usually favors Republicans.

I thought I read that there was high turnout in mail ins though? Honestly, at this point, polls are useless and frankly if the Dems do win it’ll just be more court cases.
I always knew Republicans were desperate to hold onto power as their base shrank. I never knew they were “break the country” desperate.

I was following the results. Republicans have been generally behind the benchmarks they need to win and Democrats have been ahead, and most of the turnout that hasn't been called is in the Atlanta area. You know what that means.

I think the race will be called before midnight.

EDIT: Someone called the race for Warnock. Loeffler is a loser, just like the president.

Say what you will about the NYT needle but it's helping to give perspective to the race.
