Demography is crap. I said it before and I said it again: this was never a victory of the Left over the Right. This was the Establishment hanging on by the skin of their teeth after a populist managed to sneak behind the wheel. Eh, I think it'll follow the usual back and forth trend. One party wins, promising big change that excites voters. Said voters are ultimately disappointed when the party fails to deliver, so they vote the opposite party and the cycle continues. The question is whether they do a mediocre enough job in the first 4 years to get a second cycle. Or, if the more "serious" candidates decide to run against a second cycle, as most usually wait until they are running against someone new instead of trying to unseat whoever just held office.

I'd also point out that, not all that long ago, Texas was actually considered a blue state. Hell, California was considered reliably Republican until the 90's. There's always a fair amount of political back and forth, and a lot can change between election cycles.

It is fitting that you mention CA and TX, because the nation will "trend back and forth" just as those two states "have trended back and forth" ever since the demographic changes, as you pointed out, since the 90s.

I was going to mention them as examples, but you already did. CA does not trend back and forth, it trends more Blue each election that is similar (there can be "back and forth" from Midterm to General, but the trend over time is clearly more Blue every year) And TX trends every major election closer to flipping Blue, for the exact same reason that CA will never again go R.

Demographics. I don't know why this is controversial for anyone, the Democrats are very open about their view and plan on it too, and the data agrees with them. It is why AZ and GA became Blue States too.
