Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

See, the thing about this train of thought that completely bucks me off the wagon is that it shouldn't matter if the courts will or will not hear the evidence. If they have a mountain of irrefutable proof that the election was stolen and the courts are literally refusing to even look at it, then why is the evidence still under lock-and-key? Why not just leak it out to the public so it's forced to become an issue that the courts have to rule on, otherwise they're clearly allowing a President to be sworn in illegally? There are so many legal avenues that open up if that's the case, not the least of which being the wealth of powers afforded to the Presidency such as the goddamned insurrection act to prevent it, and yet Trump hasn't played a single card from that deck.

If the entire country is about to be plunged into chaos because the election results were tampered with to the tunes of tens of millions of votes, I'd kind of expect someone to do something about that more than keep throwing paper at the court until they run out of shrugs. "We have irrefutable proof that this election was stolen but the court wouldn't look at it and you can't either just trust me." Is not a compelling or convincing argument, to me.

I was listening for the first month, I got bored and started walking away by the second, and now that we're at the third I'm just calling a cab so I can get as far away as possible before it gets any stupider. If you want to believe it, by all means I'm not a cop, but I'm personally off the wagon because it's just silly and I can't think of a rational explanation for this that paints Trump in a positive light.
If nobody will hear the evidence, then it doesn't really matter. Anything they say will immediately be flagged with "This claim about the election has been debunked". If people won't listen with the regular means, getting brushed off by every news site, they certainly won't with the Insurrection Act. The court was probably the closest way to get a win without looking like a complete totalitarian to them.

I'm not saying I believe it, but I'm not disbelieving either. It's messy, I don't even know if they've released their reasonings because the media never reports on anything he actually does. We both stopped paying attention to let it ride out and see what happens, so who knows what we've missed.

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. The Tea Party got buried way faster than this, and it was a much smaller threat to the establishment.
I'm not. Tea Party is the establishment , and its advocates always loathed Trump.
But since legislators are obsessed with reelection, they kissed Trump's ass for four years and essentially dug their party's own grave by doing it. They only stoked the fires of party dissolution and cultivated MAGA cult numbers.

The problem is you dont get into the ring with these assholes unless you plan to fight to the bitter end. Theres no quitting

He didn't quit. He went down grasping at every possible straw today. That's why the MAGA crowd loves him.

The Tea Party didn't like Trump because he wasn't a principled conservative. But Trump pulls the numbers in all the Tea Party base areas, not the GOP, not any more.

I suspect today is going to give us a strain of TDS from the Tea Party side, now that they don't need to avoid Trump's disapproval. They just needed a reason to cut all ties with Trump instead of paying lip service for the next 4 years; now they have it.

Fair point, Trump probably should have been more aware of what he was potentially getting into when he ran in 2015/16. That said, what's done is done and anyone who is at least somewhat conservative must look to the future now.

I'm so glad that the President of the United States won't activate the insurrection act to prevent the illegal take-over of our country due to literally treasonous actors because CNN might say mean things about it. That, uh.. Yeah, I can't really follow that one either, sorry.

I don’t think conservatism has a chance in America anymore. The time has long passed.

The cope from people trying to explain his actions is palpable. Trump was pathetic and didn’t deserve his place as president. This was just karma at this point.

The military brass probably told him they won't follow his orders if he does that. Remember what happened when he first floated that idea when the riots started over the summer?

This is absolutely delusional. So long as there is a left, there will be a right and vice-versa. Over the coming 4 to 8 years you will see resentment of Biden/Harris grow and the inevitable backlash against them will be as surprising to mainstream liberals as Trump's victory in 2016 was.

I wouldn't make predictions about the future of American politics anymore. 2030 is likely to look so different from 2020 you won't even recognize it.

You've done more than enough with keeping us up to date. You should take a break for your own sake.

Why would you ever try to paint Trump in a positive light?
Here's the thing. It's not painting Trump in a "positive light," it's exposing the hypocrisy from the Democrats and MSM. It's that bad.

He shouldve known what he was going up against. He was both parties benefactors for years and closely associated with them.
If he wasnt willing to struggle to the death he shouldve never ran for office.

Winning in court and using the military to get what you want are very different things. If he wins in court, they'll be doing what they have since he first won. Complain, the regular protest and "peaceful protest".

If he uses troops to remove Biden, he'll legitimately look like a dictator and could spark riots that would make BLM look like childs play. It would cause massive polarization in legislators on all scales, likely even with Republicans. It could literally lead to a Civil War.

Thing is, he probably never saw the true extent the establishment was willing to go to to protect their own interests and crush any challengers. They literally let multiple cities burn over the summer and their pawns in the military informed Trump that they wouldn't follow his orders if he tried to stop it. Before that, they had a massive and absurd smear campaign going trying to convince(and successfully convincing half of)the country that Trump was a russian spy or some such crap. In spite of all that though, they still likely needed to resort to fraud to beat Trump.

One thing that will be interesting is what happens if these protests don't just flame out like I think people are expecting them to once Trump leaves?

Some smart local action would really be a boost but I don't know if most of these people are capable of that kind of sustained commitment. It's go a big or go home mindset with the right.

That’s truly optimistic, it really is.
No it's predictable like clockwork. Especially considering how rough the road is going to get with unfunded entitlements and the demographic slide.

Nope, try "realistic" instead. There's no such thing as permanent victory in our electoral system for one "side" or the other. The same is true for the "culture wars"(I hate that term, but I don't have a better one to describe what's going on right now and has been for years).

They'll be happy to have a scapegoat for Democrats to bitch about for why they're not accomplishing anything they said they would. Like what Obama did for much of his presidency.

At least with Trump he did stuff in-between his "take that"s at Obama. Just filter it out so it's more "presidential" and "honorable". Sound powerful, not like you're at the mercy of big bad orange man.
I know my parents voted for Biden because he was, while not much, more dignified in demeanor and conduct, as they saw Trump, what with all his insults and flamboyant manner, not someone who is truly reflective of the kind of leader America needs to represent itself in the world.
