I can't believe people in the thread poll didn't think yesterday was a domestic terrorist incident when Trumpers clearly wanted to overthrow the Senate to stop the certification of Biden.

It was incompetent, short-sighted, and didn't last long, but these people broke through barricades, tear gas, and windows to storm into a government building to exact aimless revenge on an empty building, then still commited acts of petty theft out of spite. These people, whether they get caught or not, are goddamn federal criminals.

Because, despite a bunch of rhetoric from people who didn't even go into the building, all they did was break a single window, destroy a nameplate, possibly steal a harddrive, rough up Pelosi's office, and decorate the place with a bunch of Trump signs and flags and take goofy ass pictures, then left. All while unarmed.

Except the one girl who fucked around and found out with the Secret Service, and all she did was climb through said broken window.

They didn't attack anyone in the building, they didn't actually try to overthrow shit. They just disrupted the event and caused general chaos.

Same as when a group of protestors stormed government offices during the Kavenaugh debacle (though to their credit they didn't break a window).

Now, had they just started destroying everything in sight and began attacking people in there, that would rise to the level of terrorism.

That doesn't, at all, mean what they did was right or excusable, and they should absolutely be tried. But it's not terrorism or insurrection.
