Actually if you check the research paper that all of those articles cite, the paper admits that the large urban gatherings during the pandemic were reckless and stupid, and that it was probably the behavior of literally everyone else that wasn't a protester that kept the COVID cases down.

Well, there we have it. The Covid pandemic is solved. We'll simply have daily violent Nazi riots from now on and people will stay inside out of fear, thus reducing covid propagation. Genius, and the ruling class has already proven that this line of arguing is morally not bankrupt at all!

Everyone's all "boomer" this or "boomer" that, yet all I see are gen Xers and millennials while the boomers waited in the parking lot or ran away because they're geriatrics and most of them are congressmen. Did everyone just forget the meaning of baby boomer like they did cuck, simp and incel and use it to mean "anyone we don't like"?

Also everyone talking about Buffalo Viking Bill taking the senate while ignoring that my boy Sammy Hëydalf was the first to shitpost on The Seat.

Buffalo Viking Bill is just a copycat wannabe. So where's the love?
This just in. Galadriel was spotted in congress.

Fuck it, let em.
With how spineless and weak our elected reps are and how much they patted themselves on the ass for being SUPER DUPER BRAVE they should have to answer to BLM protesters asking why the VP is a former prosecutor who withholds evidence to lock up black men.
Or Antifa schreeching why isn't Stalin officially president for life.

A group asking for a forensic audit in a hand full of swing states is the easiest possible demand that could of been given in to... and they failed

I don't think the protesters themselves knew that they were going to occupy the building, which is probably why there were able to
Agree. Small groups of people always have an advantage over larger groups because they can run a faster OODA. That's how "the few" stay ahead of "the many." But if the many doesn't have a plan, if things happen spontaneously, "the few" get rocked.

It's shitty. But the really shitty part is when you realize, within the span of a day, how the overton window likely permanently shifted by not just 1, but several degrees, and all this "anti-Trump/anti-right wing anything/disagreeing with me is treason" shit we've had is not going to let up for a damn minute.
What's really shitty is that one side of the overton window is careening leftwards whilst the other is nailed to the ground. Anyone here know what happens when that box breaks?

This is the absolute worst thing that could have happened to any supporter of Trump. They went in the Capitol with no goal, did nothing but meme, and then leave. A lot of people have already started dropping support for Trump. Look, you want to occupy government buildings, have a POINT. They did it for "LOL I'M MEMING BRO THIS IS Q". It accomplished nothing but encourage the push for more authoritarianism.
Do you think that utterly ransacking the place would have achieved anything more than the memeing did? Taking a selfie at Pelosi's desk and moving a podium (I would be very surprised if that guy managed to carry that thing all the way home somehow without getting caught) showed dissatisfaction with the government without causing too much unnecessary destruction and violence. And it was fun. At least one major difference between these protesters and the BLM types from this summer is at least the Q-larping Trumptards look like they're having fun most of the time.

At the political level, I do worry about the oppressive fallout of all this. At the personal level, maybe it was overdue that our legislators in their marble palace with exquisite tile flooring and massive gilt-framed portraits got a little memento mori.

Morning, folks. Least it's morning on the West Coast.

Every now and then I have a thought. Haven't read everything said overnight.

I wonder if there was even ONE "member of congress" who volunteered to either have some of the protesters come in and speak their pieces or go outside and meet with them. Or did every last "member of congress" (small c is intentional) just get under their desks and hide like a bunch of whipped bitches? Were these people THAT afraid of their fellow Americans?

If it is learned no "member of congress" had the guts to at least be willing to talk with or confront these people, this congress is truly a bunch of cucks, utterly unworthy of respect. And the idea of America dies that much more.

Would I have been willing to listen to these people or meet with them? Yes. But I am different. I served our country for many years, here and overseas. Have seen what a great country it is, been through much of it, lived all over. I never feared the people I served. Sadly, what we basically have in congress now is a bunch of people who have forgotten they are the servants of the people who elected them. They tend to consider themselves the people's masters. If they don't have that attitude when they come, they seem to get it once re-elected for the first time. Well, the congress learned yesterday how little respect a whole bunch of Americans hold for them. I would have at least tried to do the right thing.

Wonder if any of these "members of congress" at least tried to do the right thing, or did they fail yet another test of character. If so, they are not worthy of serving our country.

Just a thought I had this morning.

I wonder how many of the people who shared Mitch in guillotine memes are pearl clutching about this now.

The thing is, will this even unite anybody? With the start of the War on Terror, people weren't at each other's throats.
The problem is that "unity" requires people to either agree with each other, or at the very least accept that other people are allowed to have different opinions. As long as there's a significant amount of people who are willing to categorize others by their opinions on a certain issue and consider them to be sub-human, actual unity is impossible.

This is so pathetic. listen, I wanted trump to win too, and was I disappointed when he lost? Of course. But he lost and that's just the way it is. Our guy lost. Shit happens. Move on with your life.

Screaming election fraud is no different than the "Russian collusion" that the left screamed about for 4 years relentlessly.

People can't just chimp the fuck out and shit up an entire city every time something doesn't go their way politically. Literally no different than black people burning down an entire city over a fentanyl overdose.
It is different in that this wasn't a blind attack on innocent civilians. These people at least had balls and brought the "fight" to the people whom they actually claim to have a problem with. The left spent a year telling us that protests are meant to make us (innocent civilians who have never done anything to deserve it) feel uncomfortable and that that's a good thing. Well, why should it be any different for the politicians who sit on their asses all day enslaving the entire population? They want us to be uncomfortable? Right back at cha! I don't know if there was election fraud, but these politicians deserved a dose of their own medicine for a whole host of unrelated reasons.

After a year of the entire US being terrorized by tyrannic lockdowns and simultaneously violent riots destroying the lives of normal people, am I really supposed to feel sorry for a bunch of power-drunk incompetent fatasses experiencing the sheer terror of having to pause their retarded sessions for one day whilst getting all "their" (minor) damages paid by taxpayer money anyway? Really? I'm supposed to feel sorry for those people?

I don't condone this, but after everything these kinds of people do to us , the plebs, I really can't bring myself to be the slightest bit shocked or offended by this. I opt to be simply amused and otherwise indifferent.

It would've been much preferable if they did this from the start instead of burning down random buildings and creating miltia run check points for civilians
If they had a bone to pick with the police/government, then antifa/blm/whatever shouldve kept they're rioting and protesting in that scope.
I don't have to worry about Qanons throwing fire bombs at my apartment

I think I know a final solution

I think this whole thing was both funny and absolutely retarded, but lol at BLM supporters and the media complaining that the cops went easier on these guys than them. There were at least a half-dozen incidents where cops stood around with their hands in their pockets while BLM and supporters burned down businesses, court houses and police stations. They even created their own autonomous zone for like a month and no one did anything about it. They got tear gassed in front of the White House, but that was like, the day after the church across from the White House was literally burned to the ground. It's extremely disheartening that everyone will pretend not to remember this shit because Trump has driven America insane. If these dudes went and burned down a building in DC they would have been fucking gassed too.

Oh it's not just the news that's insufferable.

Even left-leaning normies have, within the span of several hours yesterday, been radicalized and downed the entire batch of kool-aid.

Some of my former co-workers who lean left (not full blown progressives, I'd put 'em generally at the line between moderate and liberal) and were generally reasonable up to and even after the election have gone full "everyone who even smells like they have right leaning tendencies needs to be cancelled and exiled immediately".

Like, I had a good relationship with these folks, and visit the office and shoot the shit every time I take a trip near there, shoot the shit, play some foosball, etc...

One of them posted an extremely exaggerated bit of misinformation blaming the right wing for the entire year, and all I did was comment that "This isn't a one-party issue, it's an issue of extremism and extremists, whether left or right they need to be focused on equally while everyone else needs to come together and start talking and understanding each other. Otherwise the extremism will only grow and we'll end up in another civil war before we know it".

I'm a centrist (socially-libertarian, centrist on other issues except 1A and 2A as I'm strong supporters of both of those). They know this, and they know my political stances.

I got cussed out by almost everyone of them, with them half flat out believing that the left-wing rioters aren't even bad, since they're fighting for "human rights" (even though they're actually fighting to overthrow the government and replace it with a communist/anarcho-communist government) and the other half flat out denying that there was any left-wing violence at all and that it was only peaceful protests, especially in Seattle (lol).

I then got told I'm no longer welcome to drop by and visit, because I've "gone too far to the right and am just as dangerous as the terrorists that invaded the capital".

It might just be timing. It's like cracking a 9/11 joke on 9/12. I'm convinced most people don't hear what others are saying, just what it indicates about the person saying it. Making that point so soon after it happened comes off as "Capitol stormers did nothing wrong, I spent the last night cooking up semi-palatable justifications for their actions". Why else would so much of written communication be filler words, boilerplates and other redundancies?

Baked Alaska has made it to the BBC and is described as an "influencer".

I wonder when IG models will realise that "influencer" is not something to boast about and is a journalist codeword for "degen whose source of income we can't explain."
