And as a European, you have no idea how good you have it. I envy you, genuinely.
Oh, i kinda get the picture. I've seen plenty of american tourists and i spoke long and plenty with them while i drove them around Germany. The younger ones already give me the usual talk on universal healthcare and no college debt, which is already a huge plus, while older gents and ladies tell me about the strength of unions and the rule of law.
But i will tell you, the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. I will not deny the benefits of living in Europe and all that entails, but believe me that i will say that living in America also has a lot of benefits. For example, what happened: when a politician is a scumbag that fucks over the people he is supposed to serve, he can get his office ransacked or, if things are really bad, get dragged out and shot like a dog in the street. And this, with very important cases of abuses of power and corruption that happen these days should happen more often to remind politicians that they should listen to what people want every once in a while. And even if you pull the "the masses don't know what's good for them" card, at least you should know that people want a good work to earn a living for their families, to have a roof over their head and that they can go to bed knowing that tomorrow is still a good day. That's a bare minimum that politicians these days somehow cannot grasp.
In Europe, politicians know that the masses are toothless and unless a movement gets a huge amount of traction, they are a non threat to them. I can talk specifically from Spain, where corruption is so commonplace that people pretty much expect that anyone in politics is taking bribes and is embezzling money. And in northern countries, people are terribly displeased with their politicians as well because of how they handled the migrant crisis and the current economic crisis. In Germany people are terribly pissed at Merkel and they want her gone ASAP, but they are in the terrible conundrum that they don't want a right wing party for obvious reasons. Or maybe look at France, where the average joe wants muslims gone or hauled to places where they can do no harm but the authorities in charge are slower than a crippled sloth. And then again, there is the whole shit of the EU, that if you decide to be a bad boy and not obey them, they will withhold the funds that were alloted to you every year and put sanctions on your country. And also, their fucking laws are a joke, because they always get approved sooner or later by rebranding it as something different. So, in essence, you will have shit shoved down your throat yes or yes.
I could go on about a lot of stuff that happens around here, like former politicians getting picked up by private companies because the fuckers still have the right to know about government strategies and future government plans or voting steadily decreasing with every passing election. Yes, we are better in some aspects but we still have a lot of shit we need to get sorted out because politicians are like diapers: you gotta remove both of them after a while, and for the same reason. The thing is that Americans, as bad rep as they can get, they can solve things easier than Europeans. You at least have an edge to fight with and i respect that a lot, even if a lot of people in Europe think you are nutjobs for having the right to have weapons.
Yes, we have it good in some things. But even those are going to shit slowly but steadily in the current situation. Rate me Mad on the Internet, i don't give a fuck.
