Trump I think nuked what little political capital he had left yesterday, otherwise everyone wouldn't be resigning and Pence wouldn't be the one acting as Commander in Chief vis-a-vis deploying the National Guard. Political capital barely matters in this case. The base just has to like him enough, which is why R's are still pussyfooting around even though they desperately want to turn on him, and Pence shot down the 25th Amendment.
