Also, even if he did, isn't it very telling that months of houses being burned down (families inside them), cities on fire, blocks of cities occupied by armed and apparently murderous thugs, looting out the ass and further rioting led to just Trump bitching on Twitter feebly only to say during a rally it was part of his plan to not do jack...
But this? This gets the National Guard.

It's almost like all the people saying Trump's impotence during the months of violent murderous riots across the country was his 4d Chess were...wrong?

Trump then says he dindu nuffins and was just trying to defend the integrity of the election and vote--meaning he confesses to what he did, which was outright telling everyone the election is illegitimate and was stolen criminally. HOWEVER now that Congress has certified the aforementioned illegitimate election he totally turns 180 and wants to just have a smooth transition of power...to the people he said rigged the election and stole the vote.

It's like running to the cops and saying you psycho ex-spouse has stolen your child. The cops look, suit up SWAT, break into the kidnapper's house and are ready to enter a protacted struggle to get your child back--but then the kidnapper's family and your relatives call you a bad guy and say they might sue you because SWAT flash-banged the kidnapper's dog to death. Then you run up, flailing your arms, and tell the cops, "Look it kinda sorta was a kidnapping maybe but it's fine, just let my psycho ex-spouse have the kid. I just want a peaceful transference of parenthood."

The best thing about this is that even the most ardent Trumpets will have to recognize this old jackass cares more about his own ass than anything and led them right into the meat-grinder.

In short, Trump pulled a Bernie.

It will pass in the House almost immediately, and again - Mitch is now a lame duck. Trump just sunk his hopes of obstructing Biden. All of the democrats will go for it, all of the moderate republicans will go for it. Mitch will tighten the screws to push the rest, and there's not enough diehards to oppose it. It's not guaranteed, but it's very possible.

More likely, he resigns.

Someone needs to explain how, assuming they could impeach him in under 2 weeks, it prevents him from running in 2024, if he wanted to.

I haven't seen any indication that the legislative branches can bar anyone from running that otherwise qualifies, and impeachment isn't criminal proceedings, not that there's anything in the Constitution that prevents a felon from attempting to run for the nomination, and then the Presidency. The requirements are 1) Natural born citizen, 2) resident the last 14 years, 3) over the age of 35.

The only things I can find on "felons running for President" are Rick Perry had 3 felony charges in his past, and ran for President, and Eugene Debs was actually in a jail cell during his Presidential run of 1920, and still got 3.4% of the vote, but nothing that indicates they're barred from running.

Yeah, I'll admit my sides went into orbit when I saw a guy in a fucking Buffalo shaman costume sit in the Speaker's chair, but it's that other shit that everyone is going to focus on like a laser.

Granted Wednesday's events are basically a political Rorschach's test: if you're upset with the current political and cultural status quo coming from DC, you'll see it as the People taking back the People's House Boston Tea Party style; if you like or are ambivilent about the current political and cultural status quo, you'll see it as a violent riot.

Just how viable would said dragnets be though? I keep seeing posts, including the archived /pol/ prediction about the "neonazi database" that would allow people to type in anyone's name and see their internet posting history-and for one, this seems far too resource heavy to be plausible.

Two, how would they differentiate between fellow glows, demoralization agents from bunkerchan, wumaos and shitposters?

Three, if they're just going to crack down on protests and forced Trump to consneed anyway, what's the point in further alienation? If they can cause a moral defeat there's no need to perform a gayops to take their guns/un-person them.

(I'll take my dumb ratings if I'm wrong, as admittedly I have no experience in this realm of tech)
