Trump then says he dindu nuffins and was just trying to defend the integrity of the election and vote--meaning he confesses to what he did, which was outright telling everyone the election is illegitimate and was stolen criminally. HOWEVER now that Congress has certified the aforementioned illegitimate election he totally turns 180 and wants to just have a smooth transition of power...to the people he said rigged the election and stole the vote.
It's like running to the cops and saying you psycho ex-spouse has stolen your child. The cops look, suit up SWAT, break into the kidnapper's house and are ready to enter a protacted struggle to get your child back--but then the kidnapper's family and your relatives call you a bad guy and say they might sue you because SWAT flash-banged the kidnapper's dog to death. Then you run up, flailing your arms, and tell the cops, "Look it kinda sorta was a kidnapping maybe but it's fine, just let my psycho ex-spouse have the kid. I just want a peaceful transference of parenthood."
The best thing about this is that even the most ardent Trumpets will have to recognize this old jackass cares more about his own ass than anything and led them right into the meat-grinder.
