We dont have every possible issue or case settled into laws before making though so we do need to be able to adjust them. stopping slippery slopes is just about shaming and distinguishing between people trying to undermine morals and circumvent laws and genuine issues with the laws. this small gap issue is so common 24/50 states have laws pertaining to them to give exceptions, its not trying to introduce a bs arguments its an issue that naturally crops up when you put up a general barrier meant to just generally work. if it can lead to things like a prom night date being considered to end with consensual sex or rape if one participant turned 18 at midnight or not it really needs to be argued over and thought about instead of just set as unquestionable dogma. We've had this argument on the farms well over a thousand times before. It's a slippery slope. Society has agreed on that number collectively, and you can't question it because the moment you make any exception for any reason no matter how seemingly justified, you open the floodgates for every vile, filthy degenerate to cling onto the precedent you just set and bawl about how their case is totally the same as the one guy you let off the hook. Maybe you could run a set of hyper-detailed and advanced behavioral experiments to conclusively prove that X percentage of 17-year-olds are mentally mature enough to consent to sex with an adult, but it still wouldn't matter, because that isn't what the argument is actually about.
Carson was aware of all this. Nobody in today's society with the slightest amount of critical thinking ability is unaware of this principle. If you lack the self control to avoid this very, very, very well signposted and adequately fenced off forbidden fruit, you don't deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt.
i mean i dont think its wrong for people to argue different aocs even though i prefer aoc of 18, by that logic someone could say im a child molester enabler if they think we need even more protection like not considering you an adult until youre no longer a teenager at 20. i dont think its so bad you consider this situation wrong i dont consider it wholesome myself i just think you need to realize its not like a 36 year old man waltzing into a highschool to get some.
