I hate to admit it, but I really don't care about the capitol being "attacked". I find it so strange that after 6 months of the left destroying everything, they are agasped at the entering of terrorist into the sacred holy capitol. Seeing the hand carved wood, fancy carpet and frosted glass everywhere (I've never been in the capitol or thought much about it).. I am reminded that it was the tax payers that built it and own it. It is now full of people that care nothing about us. They show up everyday for "work" , look around at the fancy decor and think "this is the life, I deserve this" all the while killing 90% of the population. The first thing that came to mind when I first saw this, was the old capitalism pyramid painting. I am a proud american and supporter of capitalism. I guess I still am, but at this moment I am so unsure about many things. I feel like this "situation" (two groups of a population seeing the same thing and having wildly different conclusions) has been played out time and time again through history. I'm just shocked at how the "internet" was once a source of great unconventional truths, and now it has been turned into a complete mess where a handful of sites have brainwashed so many.
My mom is a typical boomer. Divorced like 6 or 7 or 8 times (too lazy to count right now). Didn't graduate high school but every 2-3 years when I was growing up, we'd move into a brand new house we'd just paid for and had custom built. I gave up trying to build or even buy a new house for my family and just bought a mobile home in the woods. But the point I make is about the media she consumes.
Lots of typical right wing stuff, fox news, Rush, and other random local AM talk shows that are right wing. I see her maybe 4 times a year and there's always at least one "political rant" in our visits. I am right wing too, so don't mind. But I can tell some of what she consumes is border line conspiracy theory. But that is right wing media, and I really don't care. I don't care if she believes in something that makes her keep her guard up and realize that the public and the government doesn't have the best interest for her.
Right wing media seems to be about keeping your own personal rights and liberties. It puts your own personal mindset onto "yourself" and your well being. That is not really a bad thing. We should put our own selves and family first above that of others. If you cannot swim, would you jump in to save someone?
Contrast this with left wing media. It only seems to emasculate and preach why it is good for you to give up your own rights, and even give up your own money, all for the "betterment" of strangers. It's like the other end of 1950's fundamentalist church preaching where if you went to church you were somehow morally superior to all those around you. And now that church isn't popular, it is somehow seen as morally superior to vote for policies that strip away even more of your rights and your money. A left wing person wouldn't dare take $16k of their own money and drop it on the lap of a homeless person or someone struggling, but they are perfectly fine handing that chunk to the government while posting on social media about how higher taxes are a blessing to the world. And those that disagree with this, are seen as.. well, you know how they are seen. I hoped waking up on Nov 5th would mean "normal" again. And before that, I hoped waking up on Jan 1, 2021 would be a year of "normal" again. But, fuuuuu
