The media and in particular social media has radicalized about half the country, in particular the left. And then your normie liberal will start wanting more security and protecting against the "fascists" in the government. Maybe it will be communism and socialism that will protect them and restore their country, or maybe it'll just be more censorship of anyone not left enough. But they want safety and protection against the monster created by the media, and they'll even go toward the big multinational corporations if they can get it.

We already saw several left-wing terrorist attacks based on this, including the attempted baseball shooting of Congressional Republicans, the attack on that ICE facility, supposedly the Dayton shooting (shooter was Antifa supporter and the bar he shot up was a country-themed bar so he might've wanted an easy way to kill Republicans), and by the current standards of "terrorism" the people running into the Kavanaugh hearings. The Antifa riots (since 2016) and of course the major Fenty Floyd riots were of course spawned by this mindset of fear and deliberate radicalization the media/social media has fanned.

It goes both ways. Right-wing radicalization is a real thing too, and the biggest driver of it is the actions of the left. But it's nowhere near as bad. Most of the rioters in the Capitol aren't particularly radical, even if their actions are. I mean compare this to the Portland federal courthouse siege. While I'm sure a few of them wanted to lynch some Congresscritters or dig up the secret cheese pizza rape dungeons, the majority wanted to make their voice heard by fucking around in the building as protest.
