If they actually did release him and it isn't just some weird technicality in the paperwork over him dying in custody (for whatever reason), I wonder if his treatment had been going well and his doctors felt he was stable enough to reenter society, but once he was outside the anxiety and pressure weighed on his mind over taking care of himself and following his treatment and medication plan to stay healthy and stable? Maybe he just couldn't handle it and was so terrified of losing his mind again, so he decided to end things his way while he still had full control of his faculties? It wouldn't be the first time someone with a condition like his decided to end their life once they regained freedom because they didn't feel like they could continue doing what they needed to in order to stay sane and stable. If I remember correctly, John had some pretty nasty scars from hurting himself in the past, on top of being shot and other injuries. I could be wrong about that though. Or maybe his mother passed away and he only learned about it once he was out? Of course, contracting COVID while he was in custody and being "released" to be treated at a medical hospital, then passing away there is a possibility. The guy wasn't very healthy and he was starting to get on in age. I do hope we get some closure on this. Bulla was a classic and one of a kind. He's one of the cows I actually had a lot of sympathy for because he was legit mentally ill to the point where he could not be held responsible for his behavior, so I really hope he didn't suffer and hope he's found peace in whatever comes after this life.
