Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

When I was a kid I really related to Calvin and Hobbes because of how a good third of the strips were just two characters fucking around in the woods unsupervised having conversations about kid stuff and it was exactly the experience I had with friends growing up. I was also a little shit in the same way Calvin was but that's beside the point. Beaches were the same way and it really gets to me on a weird level that kids growing up these days have very little if any chance to have this sort of experience even if they want to between urban expansion and rising population density. Even if I still lived where I grew up, the area that was once woods is now little boxes, all the same. Nostalgia hits you hard sometimes.

I grew up in a farm/woodcutting town where every house had at least an acre of land, and similarly it's been subdivided into these tiny building lots. There used to be this big woods road just up from my parents' house which used to be great for berry picking and it's all houses now. I agree it is very depressing.

Luckily though, even though it kind of swallowed up my hometown, there is still only a very small urbanized area where I live, so it's still only a 15-20 minute run and you can be on a kilometre long beach in the middle of nowhere with no one else on it. Just the other day I was walking with a friend of mine and my son in this big empty field near my house and my son was running downhill ahead of us pretending to be a tractor, and I said to my friend, "Can you imagine being locked down in a big city right now and I couldn't take him out to do this?" I can't imagine how fucked up and fat kids that have been locked in a 500-square foot apartment for the last 10 months are going to be by the time all this is done.

Unless a horrible war or Mt. Vesuvius/Pinatubo/Krakatoa like event happens that causes massive damage occurs.

How about Yellowstone? Aka, if that giant earth pimple goes off, it will take the entire north america continent down with it while also severely affecting the rest of the world with its powerful vulcanic ash possibly causing a second ice age on several locations.

I dont know, man, at this point Im also seeing it as the lesser evil of the bunch
People just see the reported numbers and they can't deal with large numbers. They can't put them into context and only see "THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIE EACH DAY".

Its so funny bringing up the "people died a lot before, why is Covid so unique?" and their mental gymnastics to try to justify it. They are dogs, fucking abused dogs that love their leashes and suck the dick of their abusers for more.

Paul Joseph Watson might have said "Imagine my shock" now then Creepy Joe is in the house and the media will twist the narrative.

At this point I hardly give a shit anymore. Let them jerk each other off, I just want my fucking economy back as Im surely over trying to change things for the better. The people have proven themselves to be so ignorant and cowards that they deserve the boots over their faces that they lick the soles of so gratefully.

We live in the age of information, you want to know something? There, you know it. However, the modern age has proven to me that the common man is WILLINGLY ignorant. Before? You could make the argument that they "simply didnt know any better". Today tho? Nope, they CAN know better, they simply choose not to...which is more disgusting to me. People prefer to live in ignorance than to put the effort to learn more, with chance of what they know currently either being changed or debunked altogether but hey, thats part of learning, isnt it?

So you know what? Fine, let the dems get what they want, I.am.DONE.caring for my fellow men because they have constantly belittled and backstabbed me for the sake of pleasing the very elites that are holding their chains. Let them suffer, they obviously want it at this point.

All I want is get my economy back, be able to RUN my fucking business without having the threat of me being shut down because I choose to wear no mask and actually focus on expanding the brand instead of merely surviving.

I could say this means the dems have finally broken me but...no, I have since stopped caring about them and focused my hatred on the every man who accepts their evil and thanks them for it.

US will require all arriving passengers to get COVID-19 test

NEW YORK (AP) — Anyone flying to the U.S. will soon need to show proof of a negative test for COVID-19, health officials announced Tuesday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requirement expands on a similar one announced late last month for passengers coming from the United Kingdom. The new order takes effect in two weeks.
COVID is already widespread in the U.S., with more than 22 million cases reported to date, including more than 375,000 deaths. The new measures are designed to try to prevent travelers from bringing in newer forms of the virus that scientists say can spread more easily.

The CDC order applies to U.S. citizens as well as foreign travelers. The agency said it delayed the effective date until Jan. 26 to give airlines and travelers time to comply.

International travel to the U.S. has already been decimated by pandemic restrictions put in place last March that banned most foreigners from Europe and other areas. Travel by foreigners to the U.S. and by Americans to international destinations in December was down 76% compared to a year earlier, according to trade group Airlines for America.

The new restrictions require air passengers to get a COVID-19 test within three days of their flight to the U.S., and to provide written proof of the test result to the airline. Travelers can also provide documentation that they had the infection in the past and recovered.

Airlines are ordered to stop passengers from boarding if they don’t have proof of a negative test.

“Testing does not eliminate all risk,” CDC Director Robert R. Redfield said in a statement. “But when combined with a period of staying at home and everyday precautions like wearing masks and social distancing, it can make travel safer, healthier, and more responsible by reducing spread on planes, in airports, and at destinations.”

The CDC order is “a reasonable approach” to reducing the risk of new variants from abroad entering the U.S., said Dr. Ashish Jha, dean of Brown University’s school of public health.

It’s likely that the recently identified version of the virus from the United Kingdom is “probably in every state or most states. This is going to do nothing for that,” Jha said. So far, 10 states have reported 72 cases of the variant.
But the new order may stop or diminish spread of other new versions of the virus, like one recently identified in South Africa.

“I can imagine other countries are going to impose (preflight testing) on us,” he added.
Airlines have been lobbying for preflight testing to replace broad travel restrictions between the U.S. and the rest of the world. In some cases, they have arranged for passengers to avoid quarantines after arrival by getting tested before their flight.

Testing “is key to unlocking international borders and safely reopening global travel,” said Nicole Carriere, a spokeswoman for United Airlines, one of three major U.S. carriers that flies to Europe and Asia.

Others say the CDC order is unlikely to cause an immediate spike in international travel.

“People are being encouraged by their public health authorities to not travel, even domestically,” said Henry Hartevedlt, a travel analyst for Atmosphere Research Group.

He doesn’t expect air travel to pick up until the summer when more people have been vaccinated.

I made this post on Saturday but it was lost to the downtime.

I saw two acquaintances who had covid back in December and spoke to them about their experience. Both are in their 40s, obese, have cholesterol and blood pressure issues, and are far from healthy. They said it was like the flu and both lost their sense of taste and smell (which recovered but is still dulled). Their children (2 and 4) both tested positive but were asymptomatic. They made a full recovery in three weeks and ended up taking a vacation to Disneyworld after Christmas and were able to walk around for a few days with no issues.

So when you read stories about athletes dropping dead, keep in mind that people who seem likely to be wiped out by this virus are also recovering and those stories are never going to make the news, much less the headlines.

eh, sounds like the smartest thing the government can do at the point

My government got worried about this new covid b117 mutation we were already locked down but they emphasized and physically looked that they were worried. My friend who is a social worker (Welfare worker) said they were to not push jobs and stay at home they were told to push extra incentives for clients to raise money for themselves. When I look at the wetwork of my society they are expensively making this serious.

Look at Israel, get with the fucking program.

Knowing airport security is somehow both extremely abusive and somehow also extremely ineffective /incompetent, I can only see this making the lives of regular people even worse to get on a plane and actual covid sick people being able to get in the country with no problems.

They cant stop fucking human sized threats, how they expect to stop a virus?

4K people who at some point in the past days/weeks/months reported a positive PCR test died yesterday.

FIFY

We have absolutely no idea what these people died off. Some for sure died of Covid, but the majority did not.

Think of it another way. Imagine if we were doing mass PCR tests for the seasonal flu. Imagine if every single person who came back with a positive result, and who went on to die at some point, was reported as a flu death.
Now imagine what the mortality rate would be.

That's what we're dealing with here.

Unless I see "death by atypical pneumonia with confirmed Covid-19" on these death certificates I call bullshit on all of it.
Don't forget how flu deaths have magically declined like 80-90% in 2020; or how some metrics are combining deaths as "PIC" (Pneumonia, Influenza, Coronavirus).

So when you read stories about athletes dropping dead, keep in mind that people who seem likely to be wiped out by this virus are also recovering and those stories are never going to make the news, much less the headlines.
Even a good number of the people "at highest risk" are still facing good odds.
IIRC even if you're over 70 its still only a 1/15 chance of death. Its just that some demographics have higher (5-25%) percent chance of dying while others are looking at astronomically low (<0.001%) chance of dying.

I'd say we need to make statistics are required class to graduate high school, but I know retards who somehow passed college stats and yet seem to believe this thing is "dropping people of all ages left and right"...

Great, just in time for my work trip...

Looks like a clickbait website to me.
Links to archive of files in that thread. Virus scan on my end and supposedly by others checks out. They just seem to be PDF, XLS, and images mostly.

I've sperged about this in another WuFlu thread but I'll say it here too: my local hospital is inflating numbers, and I don't doubt a ton of others are as well so they can get big daddy government bux. Bosmadden is absolutely right, the majority of deaths are not due to Covid, and hospitals keep listing the primary cause of dead as Covid regardless of anything else.

No one in my city has been diagnosed with the flu. Isn't that interesting? Some people who went back to the hospital after Covid testing to get physicals or general checkups have learned that they were marked as dead due to Covid. One guy was somehow listed as deceased twice. It doesn't matter how unhealthy someone was, if they caught the flu or pneumonia they absolutely died because of Covid. Even people who died in car accidents were marked as WuFlu deaths. Too many lunatics are accepting those numbers as gospel and aren't questioning how or why the flu suddenly vanished.

There are tens of thousands of flu related deaths in the U.S. every year and there is no panic. Tons of idiots just whine about how the vaccine doesn't work, because they don't understand how it works, and brag about how they'll never get a shot again as they cough into their hands and leave a public bathroom without washing up. I remember when H1N1 was blazing through my city; no one cried about how we needed a vaccine, masks, social distancing, herd immunity, anything. There was nothing.

Just to make this more depressing, a lot of deaths in long-term care facilities are due to neglect. Families can't visit, some nurses don't give a damn, the ones that do have turned to heavy duty antidepressants or alcohol to cope... so yeah excuse me if I don't feel sad for some woman who was so grotesquely overweight that she needed a machine to breathe for her at night so she wouldn't crush her lungs with her own fatness.

My girlfriend and a group of my friends both tested positive for Covid right after I had spent time hanging out with them indoors, so I was sure I had it too. I tested negative but still came down with the same flu symptoms I get every winter. My girlfriend never had symptoms aside from some mild nausea for a day or two and my friends had mild to moderate flu symptoms for a week or so. I definitely think there's something to the idea that the flu is being intentionally conflated with Covid to pump up numbers in addition to how unreliable the tests can be.

Hopefully this strategy lowers the case numbers, combined with the upcoming vaccines...

If anyone understand that scientific blabber used in those leaked e-mails, could they please rephrase them so that the rest knows what the fuck were they talking about in them?

I got denied service at an area retailer for the first time today. I went into a hardware shop to buy bolts and the manager soon after asked me to wear a mask. I explained I have a medical exemption under the provincial health order, but the manager claimed a right to deny service for any reason. I told him there are protected grounds like race, religion, or medical conditions that businesses aren't allowed to deny service under. But he simply responded that they have the right to deny service to anyone. We got into a polite but firm back and forth for a bit before I gave up and left.

Then I went to another store and no one there gave a fuck I wasn't wearing a mask. I want to say I've been in that very store since masking orders were rolled out, but I can't recall whether that's true. Whatever, Canadian Tire sucks anyways. I guess company policy is to they're try and drive people to Amazon now...
