General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Not sure if it's either interesting or was posted here before, but there is gimmick account about cringe from western vtubers and their fans.

Just my two cents, but as somewhat amusing as it is to have the ENVtuber community's lunacy catalogued somewhere, whoever runs that account tends to preach too damn much. I get that it's probably a way to vent their own frustrations out, but it is ultimately a useless exercise to constantly explain why something is stupid to a bunch of people who won't listen. At some point it ends up coming more across like they're just fishing for internet asspats in their own way or trying to score that next dopamine hit by publicly "dunking" on cows.

Twitter's filled with a lot of "intellectual" types who do shit like that I've gotten the same vibes from that Shizu guy since I know he runs in a lot of those circles as well, so maybe that's just me being wary of potential Twitter clout chasers again.

Yeah, he maybe is on the right path, but on the other hand he's constantly breaking character. And that is forbidden, when you're a gimmick account.

I'm not certain that Shizu is clout chaser tho; I remember, that you have explained what you mean by twitter clout chaser, when you were talking about Kyuotto. I'm not sure if they meet the said requirements of being one

I'm apt to agree. I'm pretty wary of anyone who feels the need to 'bring attention' to anything via Twitter, Facebook, etc. . . It's a bit of a flag for me I guess. Not going to dismiss someone like that completely, but I feel you have to have some kind of egoism to put yourself out there like that unsolicited.

Edit: Just to be clear, private forums, communities and anonymous sites get a bit of a pass. . . or else I am a dirty hypocrite.

Asahina Akane is doing a concert stream, and it is a crying shame she only has 65k subscribers considering her nice smoky voice.

Lot's of talk about the EN holos so here are my thoughts. This is all biased as fuck of course as everyone has different tastes and oshis. Although I do believe Total Superchat earnings are a decent factor to measure how good a vtuber is as an entertainer so I added those too.

Ina [ 710k subs ]
The most low-key of em all. Comfy streams are her bread and butter. I watch her the least coz her pace is just too slow, I don't particularly enjoy art streams either. You can quickly tell she's charming and talented in other aspects but for now she's just playing it safe.

Total Superchat earnings as of now $146,636

Kiara [ 714k subs ]

I watch Keekigirl the most from the EN bunch. She seemed obnoxious at first (she still is sometimes) and her model is by far the lamest of all. I believe she drew the short straw when it came to her 2D model, the exact opposite of Gura. I believe the 2D model and first impression plays a big part of how popular a Holo will be. Kiara has now surpassed Ina in subs and I think that's fair, she's the better entertainer and I think her Supacha earnings justify that. Doesn't mean Ina is bad and at all, the people who enjoy her content are probably happy with it. I just think Kiara is looking more to be a better overall entertainer and to grow as such. Lots of collabs! Great stuff, Holotalk and trying to off colab as much as possible. The whole Calli scissoring is slowly becoming boring tho.

Total Superchat earnings as of now $326,045

Amelia [ 898k subs ]

Amelia is your typical twitch e-girl turned vtuber. I think her model is fucking good and her voice and hics are cute as fuck but I still watch her content as little as Ina's. I was never a twitch fan in the first place. FPS games don't interest me much and Amelia isn't that creative or entertaining in other games. She sometimes has cool stories to tell and hearing that angelical, albeit acted-out, voice can be a pleasure. Caters more to a younger, twitchy audience.

Total Superchat earnings as of now $212,763

Karen [ 934k subs ]

It's really hard to judge how much is an act and how much Calli is ignorant of internet culture. Sometimes it's fun to watch, sometimes unnerving. ''Your boy'' is mostly trying to grow as a musician and all the streaming and gaming is just a side-gig for her. I don't particularly enjoy watching a noob play games so I rather watch her awkward interactions with others. Too bad she isn't into collabing more outside of EN. She is funny speaking JP with the Gaijin accent. Her music is decent and I will keep up with her career as a musician rather than entertainer. Her model is another winner. Fun lore and nice tits. The lore part tho, I hope she drops that someday coz it got boring really fast. Cringe-peak of that was the interview with Trash taste. Definitely the more fascinating subject along side Kiara given her backstories. Oh and she's the cash-cow of HoloEN, she does that really good, Calli really knows how to milk her clientele and I respect the hustle.

Total Superchat earnings as of now $375,429 (For reference that's more than what Okayu, Sora, Towa or Aki have made in their respective channels to name a few examples)

Gura [ 1,950k subs ]
Her success can be explained like how iphones are popular even though we know Android are much better value for your money (or time, in case of watching chuubas). She's the mainstream one and popular doesn't mean good. I think her model played a big part on her success and of course that first impression she delivered. This bitch has 1 Million more subs than the next EN holo so she must be doing something right, right? Yes and the answer is: she didn't fuck up. As simple as that. I believe Gura is just riding on the waves of her initial boost and is trying hard to keep up the momentum without major fuck ups. At the same time she acknowledged that the boost and popularity came in big part from the Holobrand and the talent that paved the way. She kept her head down and never really celebrated a subscriber milestones, keeping it humble. Gotta respect that.

Total Superchat earnings as of now $312,107

Overall the HoloEN project was a big success and props to Cover for finding a group of 5 uniquely talented girls that cater to a wide variety of peeps. Notice this is the same formula they used in JP Gen 5, roughly:

Omaru Polka -> Kiara
Shishiro Botan -> Amelia
Mano Aloe -> Calli
Momosuzu Nene -> Ina
Yukihana Lamy -> Gura
(Lamy is the main Cash Cow of Gen 5 with $454,211)

A EN Generation 2 would be a fun addition and I hope to see it later this year.

BTW I know it seems like i'm mostly talking shit about the girls but I think they are all hardworking, talented people that deserve the fame they have.

So I'm not the only one who notices gen 5 has the most variety in their team. Also, I want to add as well that both EN and 5 are the ones with the most cohesion or teamwork between genmates. I don't want to say that the others are hostile to each other or like that, but if you compare their teamwork to EN and 5, they have quite a loose unity.
The others who also share close teamworks are perhaps Holostars (all of them), and then ID especially the 2nd gen

Lot's of talk about the EN holos so here are my thoughts. [INSERT LONG THOUGHTS HERE]
Personally I have my own preferences on the crew, but I thought what you said about a formula was kind of interesting. I talk with some friends about how I thought the EN team was a really good mix of (the better, major) pieces of western internet culture. . . a something for everyone so to speak. I never thought about that applying to 5th generation but it seems obvious once pointed out. If anyone knows better the 'themes' of JP internet culture I'd be curious about what they were explicitly searching for, if this truly was the case.

I disagree a bit with your take on Gura though. I am by no means a diehard there, but I do think she definitely earned those subs by being slightly more than the mainstream one (though that is definitely a factor). I think, for me, her peak performance (besides the singing and the like) was during those early horror gameplays. It showed pure fear, growth of 'character,' comedy, etc. . . great entertainment all around for a mass audience. She's mainstream, but she can work it; which is not easy. So, while she isn't what clicks entirely with me, I think she is the definition of a good streamer.

Edit: I'm a loser and do not know how to add a quote to an edit. But, Rezza is also right about the synergy. The team aspect has an Avengers quality to it; no stone is unturned when they are together. I only hope that they can find a game that really captures the potential. That neighbor game did a bit, but I wonder if they could all try a Dead by Daylight game together. . . could be a bit more fun. ID2 seems to be like this, as I find individually (except maybe Ollie) they aren't as entertaining as when they are together.

Resident Retro Doggo is just now starting her first ever playthrough of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Retards in chat keep telling her to spin dash. There's no spin dash in the original release of Sonic 1.

Gen 3 can be added as well.

I really hope she likes the games. I'd love to see her do a one session run of Sonic 3 + Sonic and Knuckles.

Honestly I haven't heard about other 3DPD streamers aside from the infamous Pokimane. That said, Pekora's obviously the superior choice in the rank and I am definitely not biased about it. So nice that my rabbit comedian idol kwueen war criminal is reaching high. One step closer to Usada Worldwide Domination.
It says a lot when Pekora has barely been streaming for 1 year and is already in the ranking, would explain why her sudden change to Live2D avatar and try to tap there, the thot is feeling replaced and at this point she will , also I'm glad she immediately noticed how western streamers trend to overreact to everything for views

if those bazookas arent incredibly bouncy we riot.
If she doesn't get a AK there is going to be riots on Moscow

So literally any VTuber that has TBA on their profile or most EN vtubers. Seriously though, this is how you ruin a hobby no matter the political stance (but we all know it’s usually one side of the spectrum 99% of the time).

To add to the Botan 3D. I really hope if she doesn’t know yet or coco tells her that the adidas lion needs to squat. I feel there will be Moscow riots as well if there is not at least an AK or an attempt at a Slavic squat

With indies popping up like weeds, one would reasonably assume that these people would stick to that scene. Unfortunately, my pattern recognition tells me that there will be major pressure exerted on Cover/Hololive at some point in the future, as being apolitical is a grave sin in today's word.

Ooooooo, Korone is transitioning into Sonic Mania! Nevermind, I'm retarded. She's just checking out all the different types of Sonic Games she can play. I think she might be making a list for a marathon.

Apparently she want to play all of them, including Adventure 1 and 2, those are not hard to get, i think she want to play until Heroes and chat is goading her to play Shadow

Edit: man the chat became the Farms pre rebranding with sonic spergery left and right

Cover is a Japanese entertainment company and knows that being political is a fucking deathwish. They're not gonna do it and the pressure will be from no-name armchair critics who don't understand that an entertainer's job is primarily to entertain. Granted, a lot of stand-up is political but GOOD stand-up is shit that you can laugh at even if you disagree with the personal politics of the presenter.

As such, they'll remain apolitical and the people clamoring for the holos to speak out on their personal politics can sit and spin.

With all the political shit going on on a day by day basis, I'm glad they're keeping it that way. Tumbling down this rabbit hole was a godsent to escape that constant barrage of vitriol.

Edit: On a sidenote, AI Dungeon has been approved for streaming. Can't wait to see what crazy shit Ame will get up to.
