Its probably because the average Zack video goes something like this:
0:01 - 5:00 : Zack relates a personal anecdote about being a business owner that is completely unrelated to the book he's reviewing and not all that insightful because he's basically running an etsy shop for nerds.
5:00 - 8:00 : A mildly positive review of a mainstream comic that looks like it was drawn by a child.
8:00 - 10:01 : An advertisement for his book that's 6 months late and another book that's barely cracking five figures on indiegogo.

So we've gotten to the "my father was "famous" so here's my opinion" portion of this bullshit. (Rhyming chants can't be far off now.) This from Jack Kirby's son. He squeezes all the talking points in, so it's just a word salad of virtue signals. "Insurrectionists"--how fucking melodramatic can you get?:

The best part is "Jack Kirby's son" because this limpdick has never done anything to distinguish himself otherwise. He's as bad as Stan Lee's daughter & Frazetta's son. I hope EVS is on guard to keep his kids from turning into assholes.

I don't know about that. Doug's sudden YT success may not be as easily monetized as getting StarWars fanatics to pick up a comic book.

People pissed about actual politics aren't the same demo as nerds pissed off about wokification of wookies.

It will be interesting to see if Doug can convert a decent number of new viewers into supporters of his comics. It'd be cool to see but I have doubts.

Love him or hate him I don't think any president in the last 50 years has had more support from the "common man" than Trump. I don't think these CNN addicted cases of TDS have any idea of what's actually going on.

I wonder what Jack would think of the new president being a guy who eulogized a Dixiecrat KKK member less than 20 years ago. No intelligent human thinks Scranton Joe, Obama, the Bush family or the Clinton's didn't sell out the "common man" for political and personal gain.

Neal Kirby couldn't find his ass with both hands.

Yeah. TenNaple must be miserable doing comics considering that he's been putting out hundreds of pages of comics yearly.

I think you may have Doug mixed up with a different YouTube star/comics creator who barely manages 48 pages or so a year and devotes far more time to gaming his customers and YT logarithms than he does to making comics.

That guy "pretends" to care about comics.

It helps that Star Wars has been involved with comics since the beginning. Before VCRs were a thing, if Star Wars wasn't playing in theaters and you wanted to read it your only real option was to get the comic book adaptations being made by Marvel at the time. They were so popular that Jim Starlin credits them with saving Marvel back in the late 70s. There's been a steady output of SW:EU comic material over the decades since. The fact TFM couldn't capitalize on this and offer an alternative for dissatisfied fans just goes to show how truly useless that whole "movement" really was.

That said, even if Doug could draw an abnormally low 1% of his subscriber base into buying his product (4% of your subscribers is conventional CG wisdom), that's still more backers than anything in Comicgate barring Rekt Planet.

For all the chestbeasting about "we have the top whales", if you multiplied the 25 backers of Vestige 2 who bought original art for $300 and the six backers who threw in $500 to be drawn in the book, you would arrive at around the same amount ($10,000) that one of the three original cover pieces for Rekt Planet sold for.

No, I haven't shipped REKT PLANET. It's not even finished yet.

War Campaign aren't top donors, but they're enthusiastic first day backers. You can see their financial power in their own campaign, VESTIGE 2. About $50K from 200-300 members, many of them backing multiple times. It's a lot. But REKT PLANET has over 10,000 backers, so assuming no War Campaigners back me in the future, we'll absorb that loss.

I think the pandemic largely benefits crowdfunders. At least, for now.

He should be able to do it. A fraction of a percentage of his viewship will sell tons of books. But Doug is making $100K per month right now running a full time political propaganda YouTube channel. Free of expenses. Why would he waste any time drawing comics?

Huh? They aren't 3-D printed. We went through the entire tooling process, created a paintmaster, and they're being mass produced in China right now. Just like a store bought toy.

I don't really use twitter but does anyone know if Chuck Dixon is one of those with a blockchain? I don't wanna follow him on my "work" account and see thousands of people disappear...
Last I checked he and Gail followed each other so it's probably cool. And he's not that "problematic" as far as I know?
