Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Crossposting from the Kingdom of Mud:
Liam did another stream today on his new channel, but unfortunately he has coquettishly privated them all., so I have to scrape together another vaporstream report.

Hoping we might get a full Dongs Report, since his presence 'saved the stream', according to one chat comment that Liam begrudgingly read out towards the end.

Some little highlights that register in my memory:

Conspiracy Helmet
Liam wears a giant horned viking helmet from time to time now, which appears to be his 'conspiracy' hat that he puts on when he wants to talk about the commies. Didn't get a screenshot sadly, hopefully someone did.

Doug TenNapel the Divine Troll
We got a little more flesh on Liam's story about Doug being mean to him and Ody, which is apparently the origin of Liam's disdain for Doug.

The story is:
Early on in CG, Liam showed Xenotype storyboards to Doug along with some Ody art. According to Liam, Doug was dismissive and said Ody should find another line of work.

Liam has mentioned this story before on occasion and seems fairly consistent with it. But with the story being reported only by postmodern mythomaniac Liam Gray, one cannot be sure if the tale is reality or fantasy, truth or fiction.

Anyway, this led into Liam giving a brief theological assessment of Doug, with Liam speculating that Doug deliberately behaves as badly as possible, in order for God's grace to be maximized by forgiving Doug.

Liam didn't go further with this thought, but the implication of it is that Liam believes Doug is trolling God.

Leedle the Broad
He amusingly referred to Leedle as a 'broad' right in front of her, but in a non-pejorative way, something like this: "I trained up Ody and now I'm gonna train this broad for a few years."

Consulting the English dictionary, though, I see that 'broad' in reference to a woman means:

Broad
Meaning 18. Slang.
Version A: Usually Offensive. a term used to refer to a woman.
Version B: a promiscuous woman.

So he has a very small out from the dictionary, that 'usually' in version A there. The dictionary has a little loophole for Liam's presumably not-meant-to-be-offensive usage of the term 'broad' to refer to a woman employee he's training. (English lesson over)

Anyway that's about it from my memory banks, he also did some Smillerian "my friends are being targeted by CG for associating with me" type talk, but didn't explicitly name CG. He said that due to the Ody incident, he never believed in Doug as much as he did other CG leaders, but didn't explicitly name @FROG.

I didn't catch the whole stream and these are just some bits I remember. There may well be more interesting things I've missed, that @Mister Dongs can fill in for us.

Not sure if it was on that stream or the one before, but somebody asked Liam how he gets away with streaming so much copyrighted content, and in classic Liam fashion he replied by smiling bashfully and cryptically intimating that he can bypass the rules because he 'knows people'.
The truth is that it's a roll of the dice. It depends if the IP holder set up the content ID system to recognize the content. Some Japanese companies are more anal than others.

For example, if he uses anything from JVC Victor (mostly music), good fucking luck...

Liam doesn't know anybody that can get him around that, any more that the "Crown" is gonna kick down our doors and haul us off to the nearest "gaol."

He's arguably the biggest pathelogical liar in CG.

Well, uh, missing out on writing for Groening on Futurama is also one of my greatest career regrets too! It's right up there with not winning the Super Bowl.

Smug's numbers seem to indicate that revenues are holding relatively steady while backer numbers have weakened. This could be Ethan's schtick fatiguing while his model for squeezing paypigs has been optimized.

That too, but Smug's stats don't factor in that, as opposed to when Cyberfrog: Bloodhoney was launched, Frog has been running two concurrent campaigns this month with Rekt Planet and Snowman, bringing in a additional 651 backers and $38,440 in funding, totaling a monthly take (including Reignbow) of $89,440.

1610508798357.png

Still, it stands that Frog is the only creator in CG to regularly exceed $100+ per backer. Other Comicsgaters have tried to crack this nut. Skits Comics made the frankly indefensible choice to make it so that each variant cover also had unique content, meaning you had to buy at the maximum tier to get the complete story. Patrick Thomas Parnell sold a crude Johnny Phantasm "collectible toy" to speculators for $30 bucks. Mandy Summers added a "coom tier" to Pirate Queen where the $100+ backers will get additional softcore porn.

And yet the only person to successfully break the $100 average threshold other than Frog is Liam Gray and Xenotype, presumably through sheer force of will.

Speaking of Liam:

Liam did another stream today on his new channel, but unfortunately he has coquettishly privated them all., so I have to scrape together another vaporstream report.

I didn't catch the whole stream and these are just some bits I remember. There may well be more interesting things I've missed, that @Mister Dongs can fill in for us.

It was a fairly lackluster stream at first, truth be told (hence why I was credited with "saving it") consisting of around 10-20 viewers on Liam's backup channel. At the beginning it was fairly standard Liam boilerplate about how he is an ethical capitalist and how he feels it is his messianic duty to fight the communists that have seized control of every facet of authority in society. Boys need powerful, wholesome male role models like Superman; the heroic ideals presented in comic books are the only thing stopping kids from growing up to smoke meth and raping the weak, and instead become upstanding members of society. Standard Liam stuff to be sure, certainly not worthy of a writeup.

Then Jason Black, a traditional oil painter displaced in the chaos of the Anna Sped Wars of April 2020, pointed out that both CG and Liam's entire cause has been about seizing the means of production to wrest cultural hegemon from the mainstream establishment. Liam is given pause for thought at this suggestion that in fact he might have been the violent Marxist revolutionary all along. The idea repels him, yet unable to dismiss the suggestion. Groping for a means to prove how Orange Koala differed from Red Bear and reaffirm his sense of self, Liam argues that he could not be a Marxist because he is Christian and not an atheist.

It's at that point where, intrigued at this novel turn in a Liamstream, decide to continue this tangent by pointing out that there were many examples of Christian Marxists, most notably Karl Kautsky, a pacifist who was considered the movement's leader after Marx and Engels died. Kautsky in fact wrote entire books reconciling Christianity and Marxism, making fairly persuasive arguments that the poor in the city of Jerusalem that Jesus walked among were the proletariat of the 1st Century, giving very informed breakdowns of the Church Fathers like Origen and Jerome before concluding that Christianity was the socialism of its primitive, mystical time and that socialism is simply the modern, secular and scientific version of Christianity. Kautsky's argument following orthodox Marxism (which he was considered the authority on in his time), was that advances in labor-saving technology would lead to so much surplus labor that the capitalist labor-based economy would fall apart and be replaced by socialist concepts like Universal Basic Income; violent revolution simply had no place on what he considered a societal inevitability. Most of the Russian Marxists of course were always up Kautsky's ass, shitposting in any underground newspaper that would print them that sitting around and waiting while people lived in serfdom was being a class-cuck and that not engaging in criminal conspiracy and terrorism against the capitalist system was bourgeoisie.

After rattling off some other fun stories about other obscure 19th century Marxists, Liam puts on an orange viking helmet and offers some intel he heard on the American election (QAnon), that Trump is going to start draining the swamp any day now and arresting all the Washington/Hollywood elite. Someone may have made a sarcastic remark along the lines of "I'm holding out on Doug TenNapel's take on how this election will play out", leading to that large tangent on how Doug looked at the work for Xenotype and declared that Ody just wasn't up to snuff, earning Liam's emnity at stepping on his ambition. Hopefully Doug forgives Liam for that too.

There was some other stuff about Leedle and "bad 70s manga footage" that was gone over but that couldn't hold my interest.

Not a problem. He could just be a SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIOR. SJWs always go to great pains to point out to us that social justice was a term coined by the Jesuit Luigi Taparelli.

I mean, we all know he employs the tactics. If it walks like a duck...

I decided, while the forums were down, to take a look at how the terrible duo of Ethan and Doug were doing.

Doug has continued to make videos oblivious to the fact that he is endangering his YouTube channel and that if they decide to Alex Jones him, he's done. This further raises questions. One of his justifications for leaving CG was how controversial it was. Yet his current actions aren't? It makes you wonder how the EWJ rights holders feel about his activities?

Over on Ethan's channel, he's decided to go full Tug/YF. He's casting about making videos on all things pop culture. Most of it is clickbait garbage and worthless outside of algorithm games.

I say most because He did a very interesting video on DC comics!

Van Sciver chides his audience for cheering Dan Didio. He cites an article by Ritch Johnson, who himself cites Jason Fabok, that DC is a shit show now and before this it ran like a well oiled machine. Van Sciver's defense of his old enabler is...difficult to swear.

I had previously raised Robservations and Rob Liefeld's enduring grudge against Dan Didio. The podcast on Dan is here

the-dc-dilemma

The truth is in the middle

Rob remains butt hurt against Dan for not treating him like a superstar. Ethan loves Dan because Didio was good to him. But the truth?

The truth is, Dan Didio enabled SJWs to infiltrate DC and he actively elevated them. It was Dan Didio that kept hiring Gail Simone and Greg Rucka. It was Dan that fostered Batlesbian and identity politics. It was Dan that ran the chaos of the Nu52 (some titles having up to three creative teams in a year). It was Dan who, when the Portland mafia called DC for not having 'enough' women, chose to bend over for them. This despite Joe Queseda a few years earlier successfully defenestrating a site for challenging Marvel.

The truth is also that Didio protected those he saw as DC's top talent. He insulated Capullo, Fabok, and others from the rampant dysfunction at DC comics and sought to keep DC alive, even as the forces he created and appeased ravaged it.

Dan deserved to get fired and no, firing him would not and did not fix the problems of his leadership.

Pop Culture junk is what the most people want from my channel. It gets the most clicks and attracts a large comic-buying audience. And I enjoy it, as long as I am amused by my own rhetoric. The obsessive Brie Larson criticism on similar YouTube channels a year or so back made me want to quit, because I was ONLY chasing ad-revenue. Star Wars stuff is fun, and the DC Comics salt mining is fantastic.

As for Dan Didio. You're wrong.

Dan had to answer to Dee Dee Meyers and Diane Nelson. His bosses. Most of the social justice bullshit was coming from above him, and on the few occasions in which he attempted to make a stand against it, (Gail being fired from Batgirl, and her work drying up at DC) he was pushed to "correct that oversight."

Dan knew comics were becoming political, but he didn't understand it at first. His idea back in 2008 was to produce a miniseries in which DC heroes would announce their personal politics, Republican or Democrat. He tried to appease these zealots as though it were DC circa 1972.

Eventually I think he wilted and decided to focus on the minutiae of Multiverse bullshit while everything crumbled around him. The last conversation we had indicated that he was aware that DeeDee and Diane were both being put out to pasture, and that I should come back to DC "in June." :🤷:

Can anyone who follows these crowdfunding things explain why Rainbow Brute is doing so much worse than Cyberfrog?

1. Launched during the Holidays.
2. Rekt Planet and Warts and All haven't fulfilled yet.
3. Not a CyberFrog project.

Still, we're at 1/3rd of a Million, which is close to where BLOODHONEY was way back when. This campaign is going to be a slow burn. It'll be funding all thru 2021, and it'll probably hit $800,000 by the end. Once these two Frog campaigns fulfill, you'll see a flurry of new backers.

I believe the most comicbook drama today happened in the most innoquous place, Comics, by Perch's channel.

He did a video hinting at a rumor about a high up executive at marvel that "will bubble up at some point" and later on makes a hypothetical comment about an executive sleeping with a number of interns which may mean that soon we will learn who let the fake geek girls in (and who let the fake geek girls in them)
(rumor bit timestamped here)

Then SGM comes in the comments and drops this comment and then a cryptic answer.
View attachment 1843997

Towards the end, Perch rambles some more about two Marvel scandals and says that, once more people go to the chopping block, rumors might come out in droves.

2021 will be a FUN year...
Comics Perch has always been level headed and has long refused to dive into petty drama and shit flinging.
What sets him apart from your run of the mill pants on head CG retard is he is known for telling the truth and not exaggerating. If he claims that Marvel is about to have yet another #metoo moment with corporate degeneracy being exposed he's likely privy to insider information that people are building a case set to release some serious allegations. SGM commenting on the stream offers credence to the video because if what Perch is saying is categorically false no creator would go anywhere near it.

I'm interested in the forthcoming shitshow because the resulting drama will be a godsend to this thread as we all laugh in celebratory glee as the house of ideas illuminates the sky while burning to the ground.
I think SGM has a vested interest in seeing these cretins hang from their own ropes after they crucified him because a whacked out man in a wig sicced his army of unshaven troons on him.

Liam writing Futurama. Lmao. Reminds me of the time on 9/11/01 I was sitting at the airport between Mark Wahlberg and Seth McFarlane and they said I should take over writing Family Guy and star in Hollywood movies but I turned them down. --biggest mistake of my career.
I'm just tired of idiots trying to ban everything or declare it forever tainted because a guy they don't like happens to like it. These types of people should never be entertained
The right wing should start using the trans flag as a symbol. If it was easy enough to get them to chimp out over the OK symbol and the punisher getting troons to ban their own flag would be icing on the cake.

Aren't leftists always crying because cops use the punisher symbol and say that Frank Castle is a criminal and shouldn't be idolized by law enforcement? Then a guy committing an actual criminal act wears a patch he bought on Etsy and they call for Punisher to be cancelled. Even if SJW's succeeded in killing off the franchise it would make Frank a martyr much like V wearing a guy faulkes mask that was later adopted by anti-government radicals.
Had the real Guy Faulkes actually assassinated parliament and King James the 1611 King James Bible would never have been completed, denying the English language one of its greatest achievements. You'll never hear an SJW say the Faulkes mask is a symbol of religious terrorism and an extremist icon that would have set back global democracy and the rise of liberalism.

Back when V for Vendetta was written, the 5th of November had a lot of racist connotations, with English Protestants attacking Celtic Catholics in England. What Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons did was taking the symbol of the right and creating an anarcist antihero.
And a good portion of SJWs reading V for Bendetta would be triggered towards the end, where V kills himself because the new era needs no warriors to burden it and his hatred for the authoritarian goverment has no place there.
But then again, Moore and Gibbons were real anarcists, not twitter numbskulls

Backer numbers appear to be trending down. Average backer contribution seems to be trending up. Smug's numbers bare that out.

Bold statement.
There's no "trend". CYBERFROG 2: REKT PLANET's backer numbers are a huge improvement over the first one.

All other projects are to be met with varying levels of interest from backers. Do they want a collection of 90's CyberFrog? Some do. Some don't.

Do they want High T Fairy Barbarian comics? Maybe.

The question is, how do sequels do? How will CYBERFROG 3: RED EXTERMINATION do? Want to guess?

As for Dan Didio. You're wrong.
Let's see where I was 'wrong'
Dan had to answer to Dee Dee Meyers and Diane Nelson. His bosses. Most of the social justice bullshit was coming from above him, and on the few occasions in which he attempted to make a stand against it, (Gail being fired from Batgirl, and her work drying up at DC) he was pushed to "correct that oversight."

By your own admission, Dan was gone when Gail was fired and when he got back he instructed the editor to rehire her.

Funny you don't address Rucka, Batlesbian, the incidents with the Nu52 and the Portland mafia.

Dan knew comics were becoming political, but he didn't understand it at first.
Fairly straightforward if you listened to the fans. Guys were complaining about it waaayyy back around IC and 52. Pros ignored them.
His idea back in 2008 was to produce a miniseries in which DC heroes would announce their personal politics, Republican or Democrat. He tried to appease these zealots as though it were DC circa 1972.

Funny how that's exactly what I said!

He appeased them. He hired and enabled them. Dan Didio put DC in the ditch its in by being a bad leader, unless you were the top talent he shielded. Its understandable you feel that way because as you say...

Eventually I think he wilted and decided to focus on the minutiae of Multiverse bullshit while everything crumbled around him. The last conversation we had indicated that he was aware that DeeDee and Diane were both being put out to pasture, and that I should come back to DC "in June." :🤷:

He was still trying to have your back. But those gals being gone didn't change a damn thing in his process. He still undermined Rebirth, still hired and enabled SJWs.

If Joe Queseda is the Charles Lindbergh of comics, then Dan Didio is the Neville Chamberlain.

Gibbons worked with Moore on Watchmen.

Oof, to be fair, few have worked with Moore and maintained themselves consistently in his good graces. He tends to be prickly.

Not really. That said, it does undermine the theory that these people buy anything you put out. Which is all the more confusing when trying to understand them.

Cross posting this from happenings.

I see that a Harvard research paper documenting the far right on YouTube has listed both YaBoi and TUG on their extensive and comprehensive naughty list.
Doubtless this has the whiff of a compiled black list about it and it's probably circulating in tech circles.

I found YaBoi's channel in its early days, due largely to the fact that it was constantly on the front page of my recommendations, but I haven't seen his videos appear there once in a very long time, so I suspect he's probably already subject to some sort of shadow ban. Given the current climate of censorship it's not a list that I'd want to be on, particularly as he's listed in the far right category.

Compiled as of Nov 2020 extensive and expensively researched paper of all political commentators filled with charts and diagrams, anything outside of the status quo is consider far leaning. I would download this paper and share it with others shit is gonna get real with the new era of controlled flow of information. Discuss.

Full 29 Pages

Comics by Perch has been making more content and being aggressive. As he is firmly in the whatabout camp, I decided to give him a shot.

He posted a long ass video on the sales of Captain marvel.

He uses a series of charts, lots of filler commentary and unnecessary place setting.

Basically he affirms the narrative that Captain Marvel sold shit in the KSD years, but he seems to be pushing for the idea that its no longer a bad selling, but recovering book in the Thompson era and that the movie helped sell the comic, only to walk it back immediately and go for a bunch of meaningless *takeaways* tacked on at the end.

Perch has allot of work to do at making good content. His videos are long. The substance is there, but he needs to streamline.

So, I know we're all here for the shitposting and debauchery, but if I can just take a moment to say something positive and uplifting:

I ordered Kamen America Vol. 1, after hearing about it on Dean and @VIkkiVerse's show. I am very happy with it, and will be backing the campaign for Vol 3 this month. As I understand it, this isn't really a "Comicsgate comic," but just a comic that thumbs its nose at SJW nonsense, and has a good time doing it. This is... no joke... the first comic I have purchased since 1993-94. Being a weeb, I was drawn to the artwork.

I suppose as it applies to this thread, it's interesting to point out that Tim and Mark clearly have their shit together. They are doing one issue a month, so far, and putting out a high quality product that ships on time. Even the fucking shipping material from Iconic Comics was first rate, and I got a patch and $5 off coupon that I didn't expect.

It makes me wonder if this should be held out as a poster child on how to do crowdfunded comics?

(I misspelled definitely in my haste. Sue me).

Not sure how many hours it's been up but Kamen #3 seems to be selling strongly. I think the 3D printed statue should have been available longer as it would have driven more whales to the top tier.

EDIT: looks like it's been up 5-6 hrs and has sold about 42 K so far.

Of course they listed the most red pilled motherfucker on earth. Jarbo. I hope they put an end to his reign of fascist terror soon.

I got the e-mail notification this morning, immediately clicked on it, and the statue tier was already sold out.

So not long at all. I doubt it lasted even an hour.

I'll be happy with the new standie and hardcover vol 3. $400 is too rich for me anyways. You're right that weebs with a lot of disposable income will pay out the ass for that statue. For comparison sake, that's not an "unreasonable" price for a limited edition figure sold in Japan.

He needs to look into wall scrolls though. Those will also sell like greased lightning.
