Tiffany Gowen

A lot of Chris' attachment to Tiffany Gowen comes from the association he made with her resembling Patti Mayonnaise from the Nick cartoon Doug. It's safe to assume Chris identified strongly with Doug and viewed his fictional crush Patti to be a symbolic sweetheart prophecy, animated just for him by a God who wants Chris to follow blatant clues right in front of his face to a guaranteed gift of female carnal love. It's funny that Chris acknowledged that he fucked up that clue and missed out on Tiffany. She was looking out for him in a motherly way though, like he was a little boy in her care.
P. sure it was Peppermint Patti from Peanuts not Patti from Doug.

I hate myself for knowing this.

I can pretty much picture Doug living with his parents into his 30s and having upgraded his journal entries into vlogs. He probably ended up being banned from the Honkerburger the way CWC was banned from GameStop.

Yeah, that's right, Chris has a weird obsession with Peanuts. He's referenced the comic dozens of times over the years when tries to make serious analogies.

He probably loves Garfield as well. There is something about autists and outdated comic strips.

Well at least he's not into Li'l Abner (my high school did that musical once).

Chris would have been severely disappointed because no high school reunion is what he's made it out to be in his head. Even if there was a reunion, there would have been no guarantee that any of his gal pals cared enough to attend.

Going to say it now. Highschool reunions have and always will be boring. I actually went to a small meet-up some high schoolers of mine were having. Let me tell you the things we talked about....
1. Girls that had crushes on me (apparently there were a few)
2. Who died or who has been arrested.
3. Pictures of children
4. What have you been doing?
5. More pictures of children because there was a lot.

That was it. Honestly we talked more about other people's achievements and what they did rather than my own (since I don't have a lot). If it was Chris' I guarantee it would have been the same way except he would have tried to mention sonichu or bring up the trolls in his life and act like that was a big achievement. It also would have been church all over again him trying to recruit and getting shut down for troll patrol.

Honestly, I wonder how he would have reacted if anyone mentioned anything about being married / getting a family. Would we get a "Well i'm still searchin for mah sweetheart." or a "d'aw dats nice." before he tried to advertise himself to someone. I don't think this spirit would have been crushed if anyone actually rejected him.

Hey, whatever happened to Tiffany? Didn't she get married or something? Like, dude, where did she go; has anyone found her?

Holy shit I just realized who made this post.

Fuck high school reunions...bunch of bitches wanting lots of money, and lots of credit for some shit they used your money to pay for. If I want to see where people wound up, I got the obits and my state puts the arrest mug shots online. It's really freaking sad when I go to look up some of them and not only have they been arrested 8 times in one year, but they're wearing the same damn shirt in 7/8ths of the mug shots. Some things never change. You don't need a reunion if you're actually friends with your old classmates. Wanting to reunite with the rest of them boils down to either schadenfreude or some CWC-like thought that you'll win some life-changing second chance at the past. Of course I'll allow some exceptions for those generalizations, so don't take offense if you enjoy reunions for some other reason that I have failed to see.

Yeah it was Peppermint Patty, which doesn't make it any less disconcerting considering both characters are grade-school aged.

So Tiffany was actually a platonic female relationship that Chris had, he considered her "close, yet separate" and not a potential sweetheart. This is where it gets interesting. Did Chris actually "friend zone" Tiffany and come to regret it later? Also Peppermint Patty is a quintessential lesbian in children's media, right up there with Velma from Scooby Doo. If Tiffany had been a lesbian that could've been a factor in the "Tomgirl" days, for instance Chris becoming a girl so he had better chances of snagging Tiffany at the reunion.

Chris doesn't friendzone. Chris gets friendzoned.

I mean, this is Chris we're talking about. Any female interaction short of interactions with his mother are grounds for him to declare said female was a Sweetheart or potential Sweetheart. That is literally the whole story of Chris Chan, really.

When recounting his high school experience, Chris draws an analogy between him and Tiffany using two characters from Peanuts that have never been romantically linked in any way whatsoever. Even Chris understands this as he mentions that they are together yet separate. Despite the comforting on multiple occasions from Tiffany, Chris still refers to Kellie Andes as his crush that he wishes he'd have acted on the feelings he had for her. Chris may have developed romantic feelings for Tiffany later on, but he definitely had those feelings for Kellie Andes during high school. Chris maintained contact with Kellie for a considerable period of time after high school and his mother actually felt the need to dash Chris' hopes by convincing him that she clearly had a boyfriend at the dance. Chris started longing for Tiffany after this realization, making Tiffany his "backup choice" for sweetheart. Tiffany's the runner-up, and only because his original choice was taken.

Everything in "Doug" was told by Doug's perspective in his journal entries, so what you see on the show is from his point of view. You can argue that he was just like Chris, an autistic retard looking at everything in high school through rose coloured glasses and missing social cues completely.

@milkshark I think back in that time Chris was not so interested in getting a grill yet. He did appreciated his gal pals and just now he retroactively has upgraded them to heartsweet material.

A quote from the CWCki:

According to Chris, the genesis of the Love Quest was his twenty-first birthday, 24 February 2003. On this date, he was kicked out of his college English class after a dispute with his teacher. While waiting for his next class, Chris sat and cried his eyes out, realizing there was no one to comfort him like when he cried at his graduation. Shortly thereafter, he resolved that he needed a girlfriend.

Makes me think of this blog again, quite an interesting view of a character we only get to know through his own writings.

Chris had home ec with Tiffany and some of the other gal pals, and they let him eat lunch with them every other day. She also came to his eighteenth birthday party for like an hour and shared one dance with him at prom. That's the full extent of their "friendship." Tiffany was just being nice to the weird kid, and did not think of him as a friend or as a potential romantic partner.

I wonder if she personally feels as though her "good deed" backfired, in the sense that Chris is truly no better despite her help or just due to the unwanted online rep she has now. In a way Tiffany is a true bright spot in Chris' existence, when he was too naive to really offend anyone yet and nurturing the boy seemed acceptable and appropriate. To me it was poetic how the last interaction he had was her consoling him at graduation, because it really was Chris' biggest loss.
