Very true, but I think most of the time when people refer to having “repressed” memories, the problem is that it’s not completely repressed, but just enough is left to cause psychological issues. So the thought process here is, maybe if I can remember all of it, I can understand why I feel the way I do and/or respond to things the way I do, and from there fix those feelings/responses. This seems not that farfetched since dissociation is a common response by children in stressful /traumatic situations that carries into adulthood when not dealt with.People who've experienced legitimate severe trauma would give the world in exchange for the blessing of forgetting.
"Repressed" or "recovered" memories are bullshit.
In terms of having no glimpses or flashbacks at all, but still searching to recall (nonexistent) memories then yeah, that sounds like some bullshit dream come true for attention whores.
To bring this back to Hamber, she probably recently read or watched something about repressed trauma and hopped on that bandwagon for manipulative and narcissistic reasons. I’m more inclined to believe she remembers more than enough of what she’s referring to, but doesn’t want the vulnerability of sharing it outright, but still wants the pity, so claiming memory loss is the perfect opportunity to still get bolth without committing to anything that could come back to bite her in the shelf ass.
