I must disagree. I strongly PREFER Styx the village nutter, over Styx the edgy political pundit. I like how he's back to embracing his roots.

I prefer local nutter Styx as well, but with the fairly recent turning on of superchats, constantly complaining about Youtube being out to get him when it doesn't really seem like they are, the cooking shows no one was asking for, and the 'look at my feet' in this video, it just seems to be starting down the road so many creators do before they become irrelevant. Maybe be married has made him more concerned about his income. Or he's trying to find the new direction once Trump isn't a factor. If the vids are rambling eccentric, that's much more watchable than what he's been doing lately.

I have to admit that I haven't really been keeping up with him too closely these days. Didn't even know about the superchats until I found out about it here.

Even if this is a dry spell for him, though, I still like it well enough.

After all, if he's going to do this thing with the extended European spring break with his mail-order Yekaterina; and we won't have any more Vermont garden, or mukbangs of military rations, or (allegedly) Pagan content-- then I'd rather have this nu-hippie-hobo thing (Hell, he already resembles John Lennon), than any more stale edgelording from his chair in the Ikea fartbox.

Perhaps the super chats and diversifying content to stay relevant are because he’s considering fatherhood and needs to keep up the grift? The last video on his wife’s channel is a discussion about the importance of fathers.

As far as I've seen, he's still pretty chill. His soft-spokenness was always a funny contrast against his edgy metal handle.
I don't agree with him on a lot, but he's kind of a throwback to an era where you could interact with people who have radically different opinions than your own without ripping their heads off or screeching. He's able to talk about the arguments he has with far-leftists, ethnonationalists, etc. as if he's recounting conversations with human beings.

I feel like he should have grown out of wearing leather jackets indoors as a fashion statement by now, though, but oh well

It's funny how Styx is right about MAGA but for the wrong reasons. MTV wasn't counter culture, it was mainstream consumerism aimed at a youth market. MAGA isn't a revolt against the current system, it's the mainstream political playpen for the same rebel youth market now politics are the new pop culture. Both sit you firmly under the mainstream system's control while you think you're opposing it. The revolution will not be broadcast, it won't have every 24 hour news network telling you how many farts it's leader had this week and why that's another holocaust and gets Israel another billion on the next covid bill.
