Time for another Comicsgate News Update

FROM KICKSTARTER AND INDIEGOGO
Everybodies favorite best boi Zack recently posted dual updates to Jawbreakers: Grand Bizarre and The Expendables announcing that the printers had been paid and for everyone to check their addresses. Mark Waid's personal punching bag also ended Grand Bizarre's in-demand stage giving it a final tally of $213,642 from 4,326 backers while the Expendables shall remain in-demand until further notice.

Tim Lim's Kamen America 3 launched several days ago and is shaping up to be his best crowdfunded comic to date. The third outing of the buxom blonde currently sits at $59,762 from 1320 backers on it's fourth day of funding, backerkit is current predicting the campaign will make $147,999. Kamen America 2 previously raised $66,001 from 2,179 backers on Kickstarter and $42,518 from 1,507 backers on Indiegogo for a combined take of $108,519 from 3,686 backers. Given the current information offered on backerkit, Kamen America 3 could potential beat the results of Kamen America 2 on both platforms combined just on kickstarter.

Kamen America 2 earns $29,729 from 839 backers on it's first day on Kickstarter.

Kamen America 2 earns $16,102 from 505 backers on it's first day on Indiegogo.
kamen2igg.PNG

Kamen America 3 earns $51,598 from 1053 backers on it's first day on Kickstarter.
Kamen3kick.PNG

While backerkits trending predictions are almost always too high, Lim's business decision to utilize both crowdfunding platforms ensures that Kamen America 3 will more than likely remain a six figure campaign. Tim Lim joins Doug TenNapel in being the only other former Comicsgate creator to achieve such success.

Again from Kickstarter a brief mention of BOOM studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers campaign which is approaching the halfway point of it's campaign with a massive $488,655 from 945 backers. With 19 days remaining the second foray of BOOM into crowdfunding is still trending to make $803,362 according to backerkit and should pass the half a million mark any day now.
powerr.PNG

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers follows the previous Keanu Reeve's collaborated comic BRZRKR from BOOM studios which further cements the current trend of mainstream comic publishers (and pro's) turning to the crowdfunding model. BOOM joins Antarctic Press, Dynamite, Alterna and Arkhaven of utilizing crowdfunding to finance specialty items, which could crowd out and increase competition for the currently dominant Comicsgate network.

The twitter drama of the day comes from Piper/fyzzgiggidy collaborator on the Graded 0.5 Comicsgate book Peregrine who recently tweeted out some cryptic message.

While the lewds themselves have yet to surface, Piper implies that certain elements of Warcampaign appear to be using her private photos in memes as she goes back and forth with Warcampaign member BLACC JUDAS. I feel a little out of the loop on this one but perhaps fellow kiwi's I noticed in the twitter threads @VIkkiVerse and/or @TESTEFY-HD can bring us up to speed on this latest controversary? Failing that kiwi historian and on the ground reporter @Mister Dongs?

Yellowflash appears to be returning to his Comicsgate roots in several recent videos across both his channels. First Flash reports on the wildly successful Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Kickstarter campaign which he had previously reviewed positively on his original channel.

Flash also reports on the recent SJW attempt to cancel the Punisher or replace his skull logo after the media insinuated it has become a symbol of "the alt-right."

Unknown to me, but it appears that Flash has also returned to his original channel and has continued to review the latest DC comics event Future State.

While watching Preston Poulter's Last Week in #Comicsgate: Reboot video I noticed an interesting comment in the comment section. It would appear that Jon Malin denied that he was the one that leaked screenshots of Ethan calling Antarctic Press "faggots" in the recent Ro Kabir DM drops previously reported on here. The conversation occurred on the 25th of December on Dillard Draws stream, with a timestamp included in the video below.

Preston Poulter continues his Last Week in #Comicsgate series in his latest video "The Stillborn Revolution" this weeks episode focuses on Eric July/Young Rippa and his discussion with Just Some Guy on social media and the pro's who inhabit it, Tim Lim's success with Kamen America 3 and a recent Michael Bancroft stream on "ethical capitalism."

VikkiVerse and DA Talks continue their weekly #Comicsgate Dumping Ground stream, this week discussing book figures, Shane Davis's appearance on the Jack Show before allowing Testefy, Thomas Roilup and SJW Captain America to join the panel and offer their 2 cents.

Comicsgate music maestro Lord Finatra released a new song which featured the Panboy and Testefy debate that was previously reported on here from the full stream on his channel here. The new song titled "CLOUT" is in a synthwave style and might be Finatra's best work so far. For unaware kiwi's and lurkers, Lord Finatra takes some of the bloodsports/entertaining conversations of Comicsgate livestreams and remixes them into song.

Fellow Kiwi @9th legion centurion 002 reported on the allegations of Liam Gray possibly buying subscribers to boost his secondary youtube channel after receiving a strike on his main.

And our final video of the night goes to the big man himself @FROG as he continues to produce shorter pop culture videos, this time coming to the defense of his former Green Lantern compatriot Geoff Johns.

Well that update ended up being longer than I anticipated, it would appear with the holidays ending that Comicsgate is getting back into the full swing of things. Other news I'll briefly mention was the recent allegations made by Cyborg actor Ray Fisher/Cryborg about Johns and DC Films. In other news a new series called "The Recycle Bin" from VikkiVerse which features the clips she and DA Talks use on their CG Dumping Grounds series presented in a shorter, tighter video. Other than that, not much else is going on but it does feel like Comicsgate is picking up steam again.

As always stay safe and take care out there. :bluelabel:

So are/will the depositions be posted anywhere?

Not having intent doesn't exactly protect you.

Do you have a link to the court docs on pacer / other [county/state] online registry.

Also I hate your voice/tone.

I will have the transcripts in 2-3 weeks according to the court reporter which I will post on my blog in their entirety as soon as I receive them.

You can look up court docs yourself.

And I don't give af what you think.

It would appear that Jon Malin denied that he was the one that leaked screenshots of Ethan calling Antarctic Press "faggots" in the recent Ro Kabir DM drops previously reported on here.
I heard the rumor that Malin was the leak some 18mnth-2yrs back.

I'm inclined to believe the confirmation of that rumor over Malin stating publicly that he's not a dirty rat who betrayed his meal ticket. 🤷‍♂️

And I don't give af what you think.
Clearly you give many fucks about what the people on the farms think. Your actions betray your words Jon of Rice.

This is appreciated, when Null was doing... whatever to the farms with fixing issues and telling political crybabies to fuck off, I took a short break. I rarely kept up with Piper. Just remember watching real hard a few times to catch the moment a titty popped out. It looks like it has and someone did indeed catch it and it's floating around. I wonder if War Campaign has anything to do with it like she claims, and I'm putting my money on that being true. Because, ya know, they're a bunch of annoying faggots and of course they would. But that's just speculation until someone sheds some more light. Or titty pics, whatever comes first.

Lol at the Joss Whedon shit. The Cyborg actor seems like a bitch, no arguing there. I feel like Whedon hasn't been shat on enough. Sure, he gave us the Firefly stuff, but I feel like that only cancelled out Alien Ressurection and he shouldn't be given any free passes. No mercy must be shown to male feminists. And honestly, what the fuck has he done that's of any notable worth in recent years since directing the first Avengers movie?

Some more interesting snaps from my trip to Google Trends:

doug-vs-jim.png

Here we see that Doug TenNapel has become more popular than his most famous creation, Earthworm Jim, for the first time ever.

Here is the same chart without the overlay so you can see the lines better:

Now let's zoom out:

porgs.png

Here we see the same yellow line of Earthworm Jim in relation to the spike of Porgs, the CGI Pikachu things introduced in Disney's The Last Jedi as some kind of bolshevik-marketed Christmas fad.

And now zooming out further:

baby-yoda.PNG

Here we see the size of Mount Porg in relation to a newly-formed mountain range, the Baby Yodas.

Now it's worth noting at this point that I had to use Search Terms for this comparison, because CyberFrog is not a Recognized Entity to Google.

The 'American artist' Ethan Van Sciver, the 'American animator' Doug TenNapel, the 'Video game / Video game series' Earthworm Jim and even the 'Topic' Comicsgate are all recognized as things by Google.

But not CyberFrog:

cyberfro.gif

But do you know what, @FROG?
I think they do know what CyberFrog is! I think they do know!

I think they're deliberately ignoring him!
Snubbing him!

Man. How does that make you feel Frog? Your beloved hit character, being snubbed and unpersoned by the IRL SkyNet that controls the world now.

Does it make you feel a little 'mad at the internet' perhaps? Hmhmhmhhahahahaaa!

This (specifically, the recognizability thing) is what happens when you immediately kneecap any franchise or audience acquisition potential by not actually releasing your 100% finished products anywhere outside of time-limited campaign runs. Hell, it isn’t even just Frog who has this issue, Zack and Doug (with BFB) do it as well.

Trying to increase perceived value through self-imposed rarity can only go so far. You might end up with a successful campaign, however what you won’t get is a popular comic.

For example, let’s take Cyberfrog. Combining the backer counts for every single Cyberfrog comic campaign (as in, no coins or Dynamite variants), you get... 36,720.

Now, that does not mean that nearly 40K people have bought Cyberfrog comics. The actual number would be significantly less by an unknown margin because of repeat backers over the nine total campaigns, that 36K number is just the highest possible that it could be. I’d guess it’s closer to 12-15K, though that’s just an estimate.

In that sort of light, it makes perfect sense as to why Google shows none of these three series as specific trend results, not enough individual people actually give a shit about them.

Comicsgate in 2021 has kicked off with a total inversion of the dynamics of yesteryear.

Doug TenNapel and (to a much lesser extent) Mike S Miller have transformed themselves into explosively popular youtubers while Frog, Simple Zack, Dan Fraga and even Cecil are forced to scale back their livestreaming with the onset of overdue projects and actually make comics. The reality of business has resulted in a drastic cutback in the content and drama being generated, much to my chagrin.

Kamen America 3, with the exception of Reignbow Brute, is the largest active crowdfund campaign even nominally related to Comicsgate at the moment - people adjacent to Comicsgate like Just Some Guy and Richard C Meyer being quick to extol the success of KA3 on Kickstarter. As an aside, watching Meyer carry water for Boom Studio's Kickstarter projects against Stephanie Cooke is like watching a dinosaur vlog about how pretty the fiery meteor barreling directly towards him in the sky is.

Outside of Reignbow Brute, the current crop of active Comicsgate projects hardly appears to be setting the world on fire, with half of them struggling to hit triple digit backers. Let's review them with a feature I call "KIWI JUMPSTART":

Sovereign Wolf: Clan Destiny: A werewolf action comic, at 100 pages of fully colored, "commercial grade art" (in Malin's estimatin) Sovereign Wolf is by far the most ambitious active project outside Reignbow Brute itself right now. Yet, sitting at a a tiny $17K, it is still the second or third (depending on your definition) largest active Comicsgate campaign as well. Sovereign Wolf got some much needed push from Jon Malin and Frog after stalling out at around $10K USD, which at that point and given the expense to produce would have lost money than having taken in.

Shadow of the Kraken: The latest 50-page venture from Vinnie Tartamella, a more serious pirate comic than the recent Pirate Queen by Mandy Summers. Vinnie has quietly distanced himself from the official CG "movement" out of loyalty to Liam and Micah. This leads to a problem when it comes to marketing the project seeing no one in this circle has a meaningful platform to do so with, something very apparent when comparing the current $9.3K funding against Tartamella's previous $39,360 take for Through the Woods, to say nothing of his optimistic stretch goals for reaching $25-$35K

SeaDog and Codename: Killswitch Book II - The latest addition to Mark Poulton, writer of Graveyard Shift's second crowdfunded franchise (both are pastiches of 90s style comics) with art by Pirate Queen artist Cliff Hilsinki. And while Poulton may be the writer of one of the largest CG franchises, qualities like "writing" predictably do not appear to factor into the heavy majority of Comicsgaters' purchasing decisions. While Poulton has little social media footprint, with crowdfunds campaigns he is one of the more active creators in CG. It remains to be seen if he'll match the $22K that Book I reached by January of 2020.

1stMan - 1stMan takes the well trod CG path of "older creator (Andy Smith) trying to market his IP from the 90s for a modern audience". It follows the story of everynerd Luke Henry who "merges souls" with the 7'2 360 spacelord Apollo and gains control of Apollo's body and powerful... star essence. But another muscular man from the stars, "Monarch", seeks to take Luke/Apollo's essence by force and attain Godhead. 1stMan may not be the first 90s retread to be brought into CG, but it is possibly the gayest.

ASYL: a horror comic - The inaugural return of Comicsgate pariah @NasserRabadi13, Asyl and its $4475 take may be a heavy setback from the days before CG exile, but with 20 pages of uncolored art by Vic King it at least is modest in what it sets out to do. Asyl was ushered by Nasser with a vitriolic repudiation of his "Anti-CG" associates, casting off the penurious shackles of the Dirtworm and the Bean to taste true (financial) freedom once again within the Comicsgate fold. The reception to this news was not taken well by the more zealous fans of the group, who to this day maintain that the high crimes that Nasser was convicted of in 2019 like "emoji treason" and "blocking WC members" remain grounds for excommunication. resulting in mass refunds of Cyberfrog, riots in Frog's chat at Nasser's presence and Liam Gray declaring CG apostasy.

NOT DAREDEVIL UNIVERSE - The second project by CGUK member and tankie memelord @COMMI3 MARK , NOT DAREDEVIL UNIVERSE is a mixture of repurposed public domain of Golden Age hero Daredevil, edited photography, Marxist gimmickry and dadaist humor. CGUK, the British wing of Comicsgate, is notable largely by their choice for less commercial, far more eclectic projects than the mean in the community.

X-Farce Reloaded #1 - Like the name suggests, this one is a parody of the X-Men comics of the 1990s by Don Chin, creator of Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters back in 1986. Chin's latest foray into an indie comics books, While very respected by the members of CG who can remember buying Adolescent Hampsters in comic book shops nationwide 35 years ago during the B&W indie boom of the 1980s, translating that to success in 2021 crowdfunding in $2635 USD ranking neck-and-neck in the CG parody comic race with neophyte Commie Mark and his marketing strategem of esoteric Bolshevik shitposting.

THE ABDUCTABLES 2: Reticulous! - With only ~$50,000 in funds to spread outside the top two active projects in Comicsgate, you'd think there would be only one comic dedicated to the topic of space gayness in the movement (1stMan). You'd be wrong. With Ibai Canales (Iron Sights) returning on art duties, Michael Derrick continues the story of a muscular, Duke Nukem-resembling hero, abducted by aliens to be on the receiving end of thorough anal probing only to break free and turn the tables on his would-be assrapists in an orgy of violence.

Mostly I remember Derrick for being of the few creators to side with WC during the split and him being intimidated by reinoe to take his twitter account down. I hear WC were the engine that powered Comicsgate so I'm sure this project will be blasting way past the $1948 USD this campaign presently stands at.

Red Eyes 2 - Being probably the sole member of Swiss CG, David Feed has few people to fall back when marketing his comic; the only stream I really remember seeing this guy in was the Oz Show, so while I know a fair bit about his attractive wife, what his comic is about I couldn't tell you. Looks to be some sort of of European-style medieval fantasy with animorphs? I don't know.

Anyways, those are the active campaigns as of this writing. Look out mainstream comics.

It would appear that Jon Malin denied that he was the one that leaked screenshots of Ethan calling Antarctic Press "faggots" in the recent Ro Kabir DM drops previously reported on here. Thats super gay from everyone involved... They are Faggots... Also they should be put in Camps like all other Chinks...

Interesting...

Ernst decided to weigh in on the stream where Malin denies leaking DM's Ethan claims he did.

Is Ethan lying as Malin infers?

Or is Malin lying as Ethan's DM's seem to prove??

Seems to me that Malin leaked DM's to make Ethan look bad way back before they became the homosexual brothers in arms that they are today and now he's pretending it never happened because Frog is his meal ticket within CG.

What a tangled web...

EDIT:
Anyone have an idea which "high profile" CG personality Malin says Ernst wanted to destroy?

That sounds more like Malin projecting than Ernst. Malin's gone after Nasser, Ro, Mike, TenNaple and others in the past.

Who has Ernst ever started shit with? Ethan and Mitch took an abortive stab at him with the Shadowking bullshit a while back but aside from them attacking him for being friendly with Lim and Pellegrini Doug Ernst has managed to stay out of the CG backstabbing show...

I find it weird how Malin, quite possibly Ro's biggest detractor, has now started emulating Ro's behavior on streams. I noticed it the last time he was on Frog's stream. It was like 15 minutes of random dudebro quotes before they could get a coherent thought out of him.

Unrelated, but what happened to Karl O'Rowe? His comic seemed cool and he had a ton of momentum when he first joined CG but I feel like I haven't seen him or heard about him in over a year.

The biggest difference between Ro and Malin is that Malin has clout as a creator. Aside from that Malin and Ro are both backstabbing sycophants who would likely send their brother to a gulag if it meant currying favor with the Caesar.

Jon talks tough all the time but he never disagrees with the boss. He adopts the party line across the board whenever daddy opens his mouth. I don't think I've ever seen Malin push back with the Frog over anything of substance. Some might say he pushed back on WarCampaign before the big split but in hindsight it looks a lot like Ethan decided WC was more trouble than it was worth before or at the same time Malin and Cecil went to war with them.

It's interesting that up to that point WC at least had the appearance of being more loyal to Ethan than Malin but Ethan chose Jon over Ro despite Jon's betrayals. Likely a pragmatic decision. Jon and the drunken Long Islander were worth more to Ethan than Ro and his pack of harassers. New anonymous trolls aren't hard to find on the internet but former Marvel artists ready to declare with CG are harder to come by.

Malin's dynamic with Tim Lim, Doug Ernst and even Zach was quite different in the summer of '18.

Times change.

EDIT:

Appears Kamen 3's KS has surpassed Kamen 2 in less than a week both for backers and total cash raised. It seems that Lim and Pellegrini have managed to generate real momentum off of the spin off property.

I've read the first two and the book is pretty good. Not Brubaker's Captain America or Simonson's run on Thor good but definitely impressive stuff for the crowd funder scene. Pellegrini's writing style reminds me of the 80's Marvel style story telling in a good way. Light fun accessible entertainment.

The growth on KickStarter impresses me more than their growth on IGG. Their IGG following is likely CG and ex-CG in large part, a semi-captive audience generated in part out of the CG drama salt mines but the KS following seems to be a more organically generated audience less likely to be following the CG shit show.
