The fuck, Mother's Basement thumbnails is the only thing good about his channel.
I neither like nor respect that sycophantic cultural marxist either, but I will agree that his look better than Khantent's. As much of a trend-chaser Jeff is, at least he knows how to market to his demographic, albeit it being the lowest-common denominator.
To me, they are yet to get a new audience. Everyone that watches their video is an old fan of Digi or Nate. Knowing their fanbases a bit, probably both. They need to find a way to market themselves to new watchers, but they aren't even able to do it for his main channels, so they are fucked.
I've stated this before, and I'll do so again, but what Digi and Nate really needed to do was capitalize on their own strengths. Digi's being his clout, analytical skills, and his ability to make his essays into narratives, and Nate's being his ability to hype things up, 4chan-level comedy, and boastful persona. Then get someone with editing skills and use their collective extensive knowledge about not just anime, but JP media in general and make the kinds of long edited videos that was once their bread and butter - stuff like Nate's video on Gurren Lagaan and Digi's videos when Davoo was still his editor.
They could have built up a brand that not only would've appealed to their established audiences, but to new viewers with the same interests as well. But these are has-beens we're talking about, and instead they never ripped off RLM and tried to beat the anitubers at their own game. The fact that Khantent's videos aren't visually stimulating by barely showing any anime footage or other images is another major reason not to watch them over other anitubers. Even
Half in The Bag has more film footage than the average Khantent video. Their gimmick can only last them so long, even with their fanboys supporting them, the novelty (or lack thereof) will wear off eventually when their fans wisen up or outgrow their personal need to follow people like Digi, who they see as being in the same boat as them. The latter is probably the sole reason why a lot of Digi's fans still support him.
Also, lmao, their lowest patron tier is five dollars?
It's Subscribestar. That's how their platform works — there's no option to pledge your own amount, only what's available as a tier.
