While she is getting a lot of support from other people on Twitter, I feel pretty bad for Amy Keating Rogers. This pretty much exemplifies an online culture in which people in the creative industry are increasingly forced to walk around on egg-shells, lest they have to face harassment (or worse) from nutjobs like this.

I have more sympathy for creators than I ever will for the fans who harass them and bitch about them.

They're doing something with their life and using their talents to make things people enjoy. All the fans do is whine on the Net.

The only thing I can possibly think of Zecora that might be rasict is that in the first episode she appears in she dances around chanting foregin sounding babble. Apparently they wanted her speaking genuine Swahali in this scene but they couldn't get anyone who knew the language in time for the episode.
Honestly she's one of the more interesting pony designs as where everyone else is just a technicolored horse with various hairstyles she's a tribal zebra and that's cool. They had never really explored different cultures before with My Little Ponies before that, in the 80's, 90's and 00's it was all kept very western

Numerous people have tried to claim that the show was racist or interpreted it in that way. Some of them even work on the official comics and made a mess of a story because they can't differentiate between real life and fantasy and can't have a fantasy world that works under its own rules.

According to Lauren Faust she was intended to be like a mentor character to the ponies but I guess because of the sjws they've never really been able to use her as a character, because she's only been in like 11 episodes and only a main character in like, 2

Thing is, Zecora's not one of the main cast. Dunno how up to date you are on merch but most of the newer releases are basically the same characters but in different boxes and with new accessories. Hasbro is literally shitting these out for $$$. They don't care if you have 100 of the same character. if she were one of the main cast and someone they thought had a bigger fanbase (like Derpy Hooves or Trixie for example) she'd probably have a lot more merch.

(Also I happen to have the brushable Zecora as well as the Equestria Girls doll. I love her mohawk. It's fuzzy!)
