I bought a set of nice clubs at an estate sale last year for $50 bucks, and went to a one of several free open courses (seriously, central illinois has a lot of courses, and many are free and open access) and got familiar with the game. Not super into it, I like it in GTA5 better than real life, but I can go shag a few balls with my friends now. Total out of pocket $50 bucks, not even a gallon of gas, and some snacks and drinks at the course.
