I don't even know what the deal with GamerGate was past 1. some slut slutted around with some "games journalists" to get good reviews on a shitty game and 2. said slut along with some smarmy dunecoon took time away from the UN who were probably busy budgeting humanitarian aid to starving kids in Africa or how to get clean water to tsunami victims to talk about how gamergurls have it hard than holocaust victims.

Point 2 is a consequence of point 1 but otherwise yes.
Think of it as the Trojan War but instead of being caused by the kidnapping of the most beautiful woman, the cause was the cheating of a ugly BPD whore. And copious amounts of autism from both sides.
The only people who still bring up Gamergate are people butthurt that the video game community dared fight back against their betters when accused of being misogynists and actually caused damage to the left with their pushback (helped in weakening Gawker before Hulk Hogan finished them, uncovered video game journalists corruption...). Those, and people whose fame peaked during Gamergate and desperately wish they could be that "important" again (see: Brianna Wu), are the only ones who still bring it up.
Edit: The UN point is a bit funny. They paid to speak at the UN Women, one of the UN offshoots that does nothing of importance, and did such a terrible laughable presentation that the UN Women website memory holed it forever. I posted about it on SecretGamerGrrl's thread if you're curious to see how bad it was.

Much like Dan Rather blowing his career on a 'dossier' with all the provenance of a fucking 4chan gay op, GamerGate rattled some cages and I think certain 'journalists' haven't forgotten it. Yeah, there was plenty of autism to be seen on the GG side; but there's that unpleasant reality that sticks in the media's teeth like a popcorn kernel they can't quite dislodge: that they went to bat for a stupid, incompetent whore who was slutting it up to prop up her half-assed joke of a game.

Given the UN memory holed the stupid presentation they made it's safe to say it wasn't actually a remotely significant event. 2014 saw the annexation of Crimea, the loss of northern Iraq to ISIS, and the election of Modi. Important things actually happened that year. Goobergrape wasn't even a big event of 2014, never mind the century. Germany thrashing Brazil 7-1 at the World Cup was more significant.
Even in terms of the media, TDS and Russiagate conspiracies blow goobergrape out of the water for issues they can't let go of.

Golf's considered a rich white man's sport because golf equipment is expensive and more to the point, historically golf courses are part of land owned by country clubs, which excluded non-whites and poor fags from stepping foot on their grounds unless they were the help and even then, barred from setting foot on the golf grounds unless they worked as groundskeepers.
As such, you had to be rich and white to golf due to costs for equipment and the land where you play golf being under control of people who were classist, racist to a degree that even Irish heritage didn't make you white.
It wasn't until the 1960s and 1970s that golf started to trickle down as golf started becoming recognized as a legit sport and got media coverage as far as being on par with baseball, football, basketball, etc via the PGA broadcasting tournements. This led to schools creating "golf teams", golf centers for casual players to hit balls for fun, and the rise of "public courses" for normies.
