US Turn snitch and get rich: Texas teen gives his own dad in to the FBI, pays his way through college

Texas teenager has turned his father in to the FBI for taking part in the Capitol Hill riot, and pocketed tens of thousands of dollars from liberal admirers in the process.

When Jackson Reffitt’s father returned to the family home in Wylie, Texas, after the pro-Trump riot on Capitol Hill earlier this month, Jackson claimed that he warned his son to keep his mouth shut. “If you turn me in, you’re a traitor,” he reportedly said. “And you know what happens to traitors. Traitors get shot.”
However, Jackson had already reported the 48-year-old Guy Reffitt to the FBI, telling agents he thought his father was planning “something big” during the certification of election results at the capitol, per a New York Times article on Sunday. After the riot, Reffitt was identified in video footage from the Capitol, tracked down in Texas, and arrested, according to a sworn affidavit by an FBI agent.

Guy Reffitt was charged with obstruction of justice and of knowingly entering a restricted building, though he claims he never actually entered the Capitol. Jackson Reffitt left his family home, and has since become something of a celebrity.

Turning in his father landed Reffitt interviews with CNN, Fox and the New York Times, with the CNN interview the first his family heard about his contact with the FBI. “My mom and my sisters are absolutely ruined about the news from what I did,” Reffitt tweeted on Saturday.

Apparently encouraged by his supporters, Reffitt set up a crowdfunding campaign, and after raising the donation limit several times has netted just under $87,000 in less than three days. This amount has paid for his university tuition, repaired his car, and purchased his dental insurance, Reffitt wrote on GoFundMe.

Praise has poured in from liberals, who applauded Reffitt’s “bravery” in snitching on his own father.

Jackson isn’t the only child to rat out his family members following the Capitol Hill debacle. One 18-year-old outed her mother, aunt and uncle after seeing them in a photo taken at the Capitol. Another cut ties with her father and tipped off law enforcement when she saw him at the riot. Both girls were treated to profiles in the media, and drew the same storm of liberal praise and conservative backlash.

More than 100 people have been arrested in connection with the riot, while the FBI has opened more than 200 case files, according to the BBC. Among the charges leveled against the rioters are “significant felony cases tied to sedition and conspiracy,” United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Michael Sherwin told reporters earlier this month.

As the legal system grinds on, Democrat lawmakers have proposed tough new domestic terror legislation, while liberal pundits have spoken openly about “deprogramming” former President Donald Trump’s supporters and “cleansing” politics of the ‘MAGA’ movement.

You're moving the goalposts. You said that he reported him because of the shooting threats-- that's false, because he reported him before he allegedly made the shooting threats.

It very well could be that he was a terrible father. The story so far isn't lining up too well, though.

Don't project your moral inconsistency onto everyone else.
I said his shooting threat was likely indicative of his general behavior, thus explaining possible and very probable bad tidings between them and the family in general. I offered a few theories in regards to that single threat because threatening to kill your child is fucking psychotic.

Learn to read, MAGAt.

No, you learn to stay on topic and at least acknowledge that the prime premise for your argument was false before pivoting to something else, and then learn to pay attention to the actual argument your interlocutor is making (that is, his story isn't lining up if he at once says that he couldn't let him do harm to anyone but also says that he didn't think he would do anything bad).

I think you should re-read my original post. You seem to sputtering nonsense and it's unhealthy.

Especially forsaking your entire family. For what? Fuck sakes.
For Twitter hearts, duh.
His family might go hungry, but do they have tens of thousands of internet hearts? Thought so.

Expect the kid to troon out in a year and move to Portland.
If I was his mother that shitstain is out the moment the clock strikes 12 on his birthday.

And no, doesn't matter if the dad was an antifag or an actual domestic terrorist a la weather underground; you don't betray your family (much less the ones who actually clothed, fed & sheltered you). And for what? For Nancy Pelosi and Cocaine Mitch. :story: :story: :story: :story: :story:

Neolibs might pat him on the back, but no one is ever going to trust this kid with so much as the time of day again. Have fun finding a job that isn't an Amazon wage slave.

If

Lmao. Take your cope pills, dude. Dad was an unstable retard. If this were a leftist turning in their retarded ANTIFAG family member for attacking cops you'd be sucking each other off over it.
You're assuming that the kid is telling the truth about what his dad said and didn't just exaggerate the story. He could well be telling the truth, but if you think a kid has never exaggerated a story about how mean his parents are, you haven't been around enough of them. It's more likely that he told his dad he was going to turn him (or had already) and the dad got angry and said it. Which would be bad, but sometimes people say some pretty awful things in the heat of an argument.

His dad is a grade A moron, but unless he was the one who actually killed that cop, you don't rat him out. Not everyone who went to that protest engaged in criminal behavior. Thousands did nothing more than stand around and yell. Same with BLM protests. Some were just there to march and protest and didn't engage in looting or rioting or burning shit to the ground. Simply being somewhere is not enough to assume that your family member was engaged in the criminal wrongdoing.

But, sounds like you might be projecting your own experiences with an asshole dad onto the situation. If so, I can see why that would make you more sympathetic to the kid.

This is more relevant than ever.

White people LOVE to snitch. They have more credibility and protection with law enforcement.

Everybody in that Capitol practically told on themselves by going there unmasked and filming themselves. It was only a matter of time.

Lower income Black communities don't cooperate with law enforcement due to fear of retaliation. Now imagine being Black and seeing people like this openly sell out their family and getting praised for it.

I have ZERO sympathy for everybody involved on 1/6. It's an all around shitshow.

Like I said, the whole family are a bunch of posers.

My guess it was a kid that didn't fit in with the rest of his family and this was his way of "FUCK YOU DAD". I just don't get this mentality. I'm a spaghetti nigger, and actually true to stereotypes, I have about 2-3 members of the family who deal with or are involved with...well, lets say less than savory individuals. Do I turn them in? Fucking no.

I don't believe for a second his dad said that to him. A man who snitches on his own family cannot be fucking trusted. Like if his dad beat him and his mom and sisters regularly and was doing dangerous shit, sure. But this? No. My guess is he didn't fit in with his family at all, posted all the time on Twitter and deludedly believed that politics was life. People inherently respond badly to snitches.

I've known people at work who lazed about or were on cell phones when they weren't supposed to be or took shortcuts to bullshit busy work. I don't snitch. Betraying your dad for money is disgusting and I don't believe he was threatened at all.
