One thing I will never understand is how these figures and their followers lack so much self-awareness that they truly believe their make-believe, fantasy "socialist" party is representative of the working class and POC.
Not to power-level, but I used to live in a pretty blue collar area (ghetto as fuck), and it was heavily-populated by working class minorities. A lot of them were religious, looked down upon Atheism, hated gay people, hated other minorities (sometimes even from the same race, but different country or even fucking city), and didn't give a shit about socialism. In fact, most people were refugees from countries like Cuba and Venezuela, places where an attempt at socialism completely faceplanted and led to unlivable conditions, and when asked, would say they were extremely glad and felt very privileged to be in America.
Of course, BreadTubers wouldn't realize socialism in practice if it hit them square in the face because they inhabit a community that has built an unattainable communist eutopia in their headcanon and refuse to reflect on decades of evidence of attempts and failures of the implementation of their Marxist fantasy-world. Instead, they'll regurgitate the same tired excuse that "it wasn't implented the right way" or "the next time will be different".
Why do they do this? My guess it's some futile attempt to lash out at their conservative parents for not accepting some form of faggotry when they were younger. Either that or they have hippie parents that instilled "non-traditional values", thus leading them to believe conventional = outdated. Either way, it's fucking retarded.

I would be inclined to agree with you to a certain extent. Gutian was clearly a hopeful interloper who was at least seemingly earnest; although at times this expressed itself in the form of an overpowering self righteousness which often eclipsed any moral they wished to impart in their videos.
I think the true irony of Gutian's brief time on YouTube is that she relied to heavily on the Troon's bread and butter: Guilt and Pity. She guilted bigger creators into engaging with her, and used their pity to grow her channel. She would drama bait constantly, and then get upset when everyone accused her of being a pot stirrer. It should come as no surprise that Gutian lives with BPD, but with the lack of self awareness she displays, shes little more than Trisha Paytas crossed with a thesaurus in terms of behavior.

This disconnect has always been a thing and it's largely because this ideology doesn't appeal to working class people. It appeals to wealthy individuals who feel guilty about their status. Most of these people are really upper-middle class individuals who don't even really like "blue collar" people much less would want to work those jobs. But pretend to speak for them and their interests.
You could argue this disconnect goes back to Marx who was a German neet.
These people would be the first to criticize the govt if it adopted the practices they wanted. Since they wouldn't adopt them 100% to their individual liking. So they'll say "Well it's not real socialism/communism" and continue demanding someone make their utopia real.
