Saw vid on it and got an idea

Who are some of the worst RPG party members that you absolutely refuse to use in your party?

Here's some popular ones:

Preston Garvey
Haru Okumura (I used her tbh)
Kaidan Alenko
Blackwall
Merrill
Scarlet Witch
Jubilee
Nils
Sakura (Fire Emblem)
Hope, Vanille, etc
Mallow and Bowser
Annoying Fan
Goombario and Lakilester
Ms Mowz (unfortunately)
Kooper

- Yuffie Kisaragi, I didn't find her of much use (My party was permanently set with Cloud, REDXII and Tifa), other then to get the side quest for her home town.
- Gau from FF6 was also pretty terrible for a party member, and I never bothered to level with him because I couldn't stand his style of fighting (think beserker, but used the fighting style of monsters).
- Outside of Final Fantasy, Liara from Mass Effect was never used once until I had to with the Shadowbroker DLC. James Vegas was absolutely never used and was my most disliked charactar out of the series. Paragon Lost was interesting, but didn't improve my thoughts on him.

Namba in Yakuza 7.

he really fucked over a lot of people.

Gilbert from FF4. I've long given up on reviving his ass or even attempting to heal him after a weakass attack. It's a waste of a turn for a man who is constantly in the red, basically contributes nothing to battle, and is barely a party member anyhow. His best contribution to battle wasn't even in an actual battle; it's when he's laying injured in a Troia hospital bed and plays his harp so Cecil and co don't die at the ends of the dark elf.

Guy from Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken. Garbage Navarre archetype with terrible strength growths to make up for his shit base strength. Especially useless considering Rekka no Ken also forces Lyn into your party and she does the same kind of job Guy can do without necessarily taking up a deployment slot.

Kongol from Legend of Dragoon. He min-maxed in most of the wrong status since any enemy in the game uses magic at half health. Even with speed gear, he gets to be about as fast as Haschel at base. Combined with bad magic defense and no support spells, his dragoon transformation is useless. Also doesn't have an elemental weapon either, so he's not like Albert who can hit much harder with the Twister Glaive and have some use in boss fights in disc 2.

Your right about Gau except for the SNES version of the game which he was OP in with Tempest Sword and Stray Cat.

Liara was pathetic and cringy throughout the Mass Effect trilogy.

Oghren from Dragon Age was a boring ass "drunk dwarf lol" one-dimensional cliche.

Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII was teeth-grittingly annoying in every conceivable way, and was nigh worthless as a party member mechanically to boot.

Montaron and Xzar from Baldur's Gate I and II: both nails-on-chalkboard "lol teh evulz" tryhard edgelord types.

Well that explains my lackluster expierience, as I only played the PS1 version of FF6.

I just found Yuffie super annoying. I barely used her outside of the Wutai quest. And if you are a completionist you have to use her on Diamond Weapon or you can't get the conformer. A weapon for a character I don't use. But I had to have it.

We aren't friends anymore.

Tao in Atelier Ryza 1
Ignatz in FE 3houses
Lin in xenoblade chronicles X

Fucking Imoen.
Yelling at me all the time about candlekeep while I'm losing my mind to my evil dad.

Kongol is definitely niche, but I got him so overpowered he dropped the final boss in 1 or 2 swings.
That was also the run I killed all the optional bosses though.

Ff8 Selphie was also one for me, as I hated her random limit break. I know it can be used to be OP, but random will never be my style.
