General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Walls are less effective when everyone has an elytra.
Realistically almost any defensive structure can be breached by End Crystals and TNT. The only exception is if the entire building is waterlogged (easy to remove) or made of obsidian (impractical on a large scale).

Between the two I would probably opt for water, since it takes far more time to make a 1-thick obsidian wall than it does to break the same. However obsidian can force an enemy to stay in the same place for a while, in theory if you could procure an Elder Guardian and surround it with obsidian, the resulting structure would be very difficult to breach due to mining fatigue on top of the ten-second breaking time. During which it would be possible to intercept attackers by some method. The wall would have to be thick enough to stop splash potions, TNT damage and chorus fruit teleportation from reaching the Elder Guardians, fortunately the inside can be made of non-blastproof materials since it's already shielded.

Still a massive and impractical project, but I suspect the majority of players would simply give up attacking it. Ideal location would be either the ocean floor to make it difficult to drain, or somewhere above the void in the End. Using it as an actual base would be a whole different challenge, with the added caveat that people surrounding it will probably try to kill you and you have no way to retreat in because that would be a security risk. It's no wonder that everyone in an anarchy server opts for security by obscurity rather than anything else.

I saw that thread and that specific comment too. I'm pretty sure it's a sarcastic joke. Though I think I can add a little context as to why Dedechi (who went on to become Hololive's Mano Aloe) said what she said in that fateful TwitCast where she "slandered" the legacy of graduated Nijisanji liver Kudou Chitose. I don't know if this was already discussed here, but I'll try and explain what I know about it.

From what I understand, the TwitCast in question where Dedechi/Aloe "slandered" Chitose was under the context that, at that point, no one knew why Chitose suddenly retired from Nijisanji. So naturally, rumors as to the reason why began circulating, with one of them being that Chitose's roommate was doxed and harassed into retirement. Dedechi discussed this rumor on that TwitCast when she was talking about the potential dangers that could come from working for another seiyuu company she had signed up for that year (this TwitCast is from 2019 for context, before Gen 3 of Hololive even existed).

The issue is that the rumor ended up being debunked (I think) a week later when Chitose's roommate began releasing music under DUSTCELL. The reason for her graduating from Nijisanji was finally confirmed by a statement released shortly after Chitose's (now EMA) DUSTCELL debut, in which it's stated that the reason she retired is that she considered streaming to be a hassle and wanted to focus more on making music. That statement can be found here. It makes sense that Chitose decided to go into music, considering she was (imo) the best singer in Nijisanji at the time.

Unfortunately, as a result of repeating a (now proven false) rumor in a TwitCast that should have been deleted, people, be they antis or salty/tribalistic Nijisanji fans, pounced on Aloe for "slander". I understand why Dedechi/Aloe believed and talked about the rumor though, considering Chitose never gave a good reason for her sudden retirement. It made sense for people to theorize it was something serious. This was honestly just a case of bad actors taking advantage of a situation where Dedechi mentioned bad speculation that concerned her due to the job she was about to take on and a manager and/or talent that should have deleted the old stream(s) where the mention was made in the first place.
This mostly lines up with what I had already heard, with one exception--Chitose's roommate had, indeed, been revealed and that it was already common knowledge by that point (or at least, easily accessible). I don't know all the details but if Chitose didn't retire because of that, assuming it is true people did know who her roommate actually was, then it probably wasn't serious.

The contingent that went after Aloe seemed like a mishmash of all-around antis with gachikoi. And it did, briefly, turn into a sort of East vs. West argument, with the Japanese gachis getting super-pissed at the "stupid Americans" who don't care if their idol isn't 100% perfect. I saw a few of the comments but no actual back-and-forth arguments, really. The language barrier is too great but the two sides did get pretty angry at each other and for a brief moment, it looked like the Overseas Bros and JP Bros wouldn't be able to get along.

It all blew over pretty quickly but I get the impression that there are still some Japanese who are a bit sore over the Western fanbase trying to support Aloe.

They still dont get along at least in the case of Aloe, people is still mad at them because they made a example of her to prevent anyone else to trying to pull of a Towa, they knew she was going to be carried hard by the west in their own division and that could not be allowed in their sick minds, the worst part is that Delu know this (her discord and fanboxes is full of westerners) but she refuse to come back because she believe there is nothing to do to fix the problem

Overseas fanbase can be pretty toxic but on these types of cases, good on us for standing on the right side of argument. This shit and the one with Towa was pure garbage.

Make content, not tweet should be an advice everyone should take. What "vtweeters" don't know is that some of the girls that became part of hololive were making content before they joined.
Yeah but the hype bandwagon grifters that are these """TBA""" VTweeters aren't the type to think a lot, they saw that it was becoming popular so they boarded the wagon.
But for most of these, it'll last until the next big thing regarding streamers and youtubers.

Towa is a great example. Aloe could have stayed and her Western fanbase would have carried her. Hell, was it Towa that gets the highest percentage of English comments? I forget. Point is, Towa was basically saved by the Western fans. The same could have been the case for Aloe but for whatever reason, she didn't stay. I think it is pretty clear that she left on her own. Only she actually knows why she did it for certain. She chose to go, despite the support she got. I have no doubt that she was also aware that the Western fanbase was comparing her to Aloe.

It is possible that the massive surge of support actually drove her away. It is clear that she has serious self-esteem issues and a combination of guilt, feeling unworthy, and just sheer, raw intimidation in the face of a sudden and dramatic increase in popularity mid-suspension probably had something to do with her decision. I think Mister O. is more up on her than I am but I recall him saying that she wants people to let Aloe go and move on. But again, she is the only one who knows for certain why she left.

Indeed. It is because of things like this in general (and the sleaziness of the idol managers and agencies within the industry in particular) that I hate the idol industry. Idol groups, not so much (not entirely into them, but, whatever). And it isn't just the female idols, it effects the male ones, too. I knew a guy who was given hormones to prevent him from aging during puberty because he was involved with one of the junior branches of Johnny's, a major male talent agency. Messed up shit.

someone railing her on stream.
What the fuck since when we passed to "hearing some guy on the background" to "railing"?

I am but I recall him saying that she wants people to let Aloe go and move on. But again, she is the only one who knows for certain why she left.
Tough luck with that people is still memeing hard and she also dont want to let it go, she still remember what happened in August in every stream and she has throwed hints that she keep searching for Aloe tags on twitter only to see that people is still talking about her it was the worse during Aloe birthday

Also she likes to flip flop a lot about the issue if the translations are correct, she pass from "i dont care anymore" and inmediately "i regret it"

She forgot to mute her mic and everyone heard someone railing her on stream.
...
I've been exagerating the story a bit everytime someone ask, last time someone asked i told them they were flirting
There was this one ecchi JP Vtuber who did audio-porn ASMR and actually did get railed (or at least pretended to get railed) on stream. It's probably still up on Youtube and I bet dollars to donuts its on Pornhub and Xvideos, too. Youtube, for being politically progressive, doesn't understand that non-English-speakers use their platform. That's how, if you know certain non-Western languages, you can find all kinds of dirty shit. Hololive talents just get caught probably because they have so many Western viewers.

If she regrets it, well... she can always return. I think she wants to move on but thinks if she goes back, it'll be a shitshow or emotionally difficult for her to overcome. She's obviously got serious emotional issues and could probably do with some therapy. Unfortunately, Japanese society stigmatizes mental illness worse than Western societies.

Anyway, I think the fanbase doesn't just meme Aloe a ton because they want her to come back. I think they do it in a sort of "never forget" kind of thing. "Make sure this doesn't happen again." I think, considering how Coco's meme reviews, the talents learning English, and the Reddit community have started to punch holes in the language barrier, if another Hitomi Chris/Towa/Aloe situation happens again, there will be some serious nastiness the JP gachikoi are going to get slapped with via DeepL translation. It will probably start with simple memes but then escalate to flame wars. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

yes
