After all we've seen and known, I honestly think that Greg was doing that in purpose because he didn't have the guts to break up with Shoe directly, like "let's see how much this dumb bitch can take".

The relationship with her parents is good, actually. It was already mentioned a few pages before that they were part of her live in a positive way.
