Internet Historian is one of the only reasons I still actually use YouTube as a platform. He's insightful and hilarious. His short documentaries are insanely high quality and much more detailed than I expected when I first discovered him. I'll post a few of my favorites and I encourage you all to do the same. The guy deserves mad props.

Here's his main channel for those who are unfamiliar, and his second channel which has some really funny stuff too. A few awful fanfiction readings, and some documentaries on pirates and bank heists. Good stuff. He also has a Twitch but I don't care for streams that much.

His video on Balloon Boy was amazing. It may be too late to repair the family's reputation, but he gave them a chance and weighed out the case to make a convincing (and most likely truthful) argument it was a complete freak accident and the Heenes were unfairly dragged through the mud by parasites in the media and police force hungry with power.

Iirc, in his Q&A he implied that his video wasn’t totally accurate and that there is some other evidence that incriminates the Heenes. He cut it just because he wanted to make a more convincing case.

Like Null, Fredrick Knudsen, and Bruva Alfabusa, Internet Historian is a legend who does his best to give us high-quality products for free. He is a hero of the internet who has my respect.
I'd throw in ManyKudos on that list. Quite similar content to IH and he even does a small collab in one of his vids.

Here's his video with the small collab with IH.

One of my favorites of IH has to be his Fallout 76 video, hilarious from beginning to end.

The fallout 76 video is great I still go back and rewatch it sometimes.

Fyre festival is my first IH video.
I heard that he's making video about the stock autist.
Oh, that is going to be a good video.
The Internet Historian has done the world a favor by documenting and reinforcing leaving an open suggestion poll to the internet is a bad idea.
Also, whenever I want to show someone about how NOT to run an event/company, I usually pull up IH's vids about Dashcon, Rainfurrest, and Fyre Festival.

this is also good. Kind of showing the flip side of Fallout 76.
Sean Murray responded to this video, especially to the smutty fanfiction it ends on. Apparently it created an appreciable little jump in game sales for a few days.

I've loved his 'Sundance Rejects' he makes with friends. Don't know how many times I've seen 'The Swedish Job' So much effort into making things look so bad. Special commendation to the BETTER ending of GOT. Don't skip out on 'Incognito Mode' if you haven't already.

Having followed his channel since its early inception, he’s always been a solid creator that makes some of the best quality content. Sucks that he’s kind of shifted from focusing on the main channel videos to the incognito mode channel and gameplay stream clips. Though at the same time, I can’t fully blame the guy, given how he always put in a lot of time and effort toward his research and editing.

On an unrelated note, curious if anyone else here happened to be in his old discord server when it was active.

I wasn't aware he had one. I looked for a link but his subreddit say it was closed down due to either overcrowding or a bunch of drama happened. Do you remember there being a bunch of drama on the server?

As someone who was dumb enough to buy the stinking pile of shit that is No Man's Sky when it first came out and repeatedly tried to give it another chance each time a new update came out and finally gave up, his video on the game is equally garbage.

I don't know anything about Fallout 76 other than vague impressions of people mentioning what a clusterfuck it is, but I have to laugh at anyone dumb enough to fall for the IH attempt at creating a narrative about 'redemption' with No Man's Sky compared to Fallout 76 and went out and actually paid money for the turd.

Sure a bunch of crap was added to the since it was released but the fundamental gameplay remains complete and utter garbage. Maybe it isn't as buggy as the Bethesda game - but what is?

Edit:

Heh, what was it? Butthurt that you got fooled into a marketing pitch for the turd that No Man's Sky remains to be today or fans of Bethesda's buggy and braindead games?

He had one several years back. Was a pretty chill place starting out. There were movie nights, fanart contests, channels dedicated to shitposting, posting original artwork, and even research into potential video topics (I was able to help with at least one of the vids way back). Unfortunately, the server was mostly made up of high schoolers and college kids that formed their own cliques. So naturally, they took it upon themselves to bully and harass new members that just joined and were hoping to hang out in the guy’s server. Some of the old members themselves would get banned for doxing, posting gore or nsfw pics of underage anime characters, etc, and then try to return to the server under sock accounts. This lead to the server being locked for at least a couple years, with Patreon being the only way for new members to join. Rather than just moving on, banned members took it upon themselves to migrate over to “refugee” servers where they’d keep tabs of what was going on in the main server. Internet Historian unsurprisingly grew pretty detached from the server over the years and eventually decided to shut it all down last year. I don’t blame the guy, given how he didn’t want to get involved in sorting out any of the ridiculous drama himself.

There are a few specific instances of drama that I vaguely remember and can share some other time or privately. For now, I’d rather avoid derailing this thread given how it’s meant to talk about his videos and not the defunct discord server.
