A troon can be a completely healthy person (mental illness notwithstanding), yet they still require constant medication (that is, hormone pills) for their entire lives. That's without even mentioning how much the butchers who perform SRS make off them.
3. Clout and forced relevance. Big one for Jimbo here and many others on twitter. Troons are currently at the top of the oppression stack (see reason #1), and they can wield that as a cudgel to interrupt discussions and silence people they don't like.
4. Social safety net. Troons are now a protected class. Any criticism of a troon can very easily be conflated/deflected into criticism of all of troondom, and they are very quick to band together to defend each other against "transphobes". Even if the only thing said "transphobe" said was that a certain troon is an asshole, with no mention of their gender status. Troons are also very quick to share and contribute in each other's fundraisers.
5. Snowflake syndrome. This one happens a lot with the small-time troons. Have you ever noticed how there are an unreasonable amount of male-to-female troons in what are traditionally male-dominated environments? Like, a much higher ratio than in groups/careers that are naturally mixed? There are more troons playing videogames these days than there are actual, honest-to-god double-X-chromosome girls. From the point of view of a sociopathic or depressed male with no prospects and a perchant for AGP, why should they take their lumps like a man, when they can pretend to be special and demand special treatment? TL;DR - He led the Child Youth and Family Gender Identity Clinic in Toronto, Canada, and despite literally being one of the most prominent and leading researchers on the topic of gender dysmorphia was fired because his recommendations went against the MSM narrative. Basically, Zucker thought it was best to "help children feel comfortable in their own bodies" first before doing anything rash, and the LGBTQ+ bitched him out saying he was denying their identities. Like 90% of Trannys and the entirety of the social justice side are big believe and trust the scientists types. But when it comes to experts in their field on mental health treatment its immediately they are just prejudiced evil oppressors who are wrong. A big part of the issue is just like that guy doing any research on this is fucking impossible. The best stuff you can find comes from like pre 2013 at the very early start of trans acceptance. Basically they found a bunch seemed to just be depressed and with the right treatment via therapy, improving their lifestyles or drug combinations stopped feeling that way once they were happy. There is also a lot more on other mental illness and isolated loner type people who don't feel accepted having an instant in to acceptance and feeling like a special group by coming out as Trans.

It's absolutely in their best interests, but its also simple recognition. They've certainly not been blind to the dual moves that've been made to both ensure that there is always a problem that can never be solved, and that anyone who is part of said problem at any point must be cancelled forever.
