At least from what I have understood of what conservatism is, that is just flat out wrong. It doesn't mean you want to go back, it means minimal and slow changes if any are needed (as the most basic kindergarten definition). Moreover, a glorification of the past is something that seriously affects every ideology. Liberals will look to Greece and the enlightenment, Marx's has a lot of primitivism in the communistic manifesto where people should basically just be farmers.
