Dude,
four hours a night on that shit forum? For the love of god, how much painting and converting could you get done in that time? You could rattle up a 1500 points project from scratch in, what, four to six weeks if you'd put in four hours a night?
Actually, do that. Get a project. Even if it has to be spess murheens. Get a project, open a project log post on B&C or Dakka or somewhere
I've been tempted, but my interest with the hobby was beginning to wane a bit, even before I became looks-obsessed. I wouldn't say I've grown out of it, far from it, it's just I don't like the direction both games systems are taking.
Agreed. Plus, that silhouette wouldn't really work in real life. The way he has the neck dialed back doesn't seem to take into consideration of the muscles, spine, etc that reside within that area. It would be like a Rob Liefeld creature come to life!
Imgur isn't working for me at the moment. Nooooo...
Also, if we're going by aesthetics in art,
@scar_face40's nose to chin angle is correct. Not the blueline, but his actual profile is a normal profile. If he sat up straight and didn't slouch, it would help. -- I hate the plain side angle's these guys do because they are in a static state and movement makes a big difference in how things are perceived, as well as lighting... Being in-person is usually better as photographs flatten out the surfaces and do not show true prospective and depth. It's a very shallow representation. Not to mention none of the guys look happy and never smile.
I think the 'desired' image on the left looks unnatural because I've got my head tilted back anyway. The profile I'm after in the typical balanced 'anteface'. The being the chin is in direct vertical alignment with the brow. You can see if the black and white photo on the right that my chin (as a result of my lower jaw being too far back) is recessed compared my midface.
Smiling naturally makes my profile and oblique view look better because when you smile your lower jaw moves forward slightly, but in life you can't be smiling all the time.
My submental (under chin) area is not very defined and has a similar appearance to an older person with a sagging neck. This is mainly due to a low hanging hyoid bone, which I think I've probably inherited from my mum. I did initially think that I could never achieve the result I wanted because of my muscle and bone, but when I jut my jaw forward (ie: anywhere in public), my neck to jaw angle gets much better and closer to 90 degrees.

Anyway, thanks for all the responses people, it's been good food for thought.
