Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

That's a lie the new ratings system is because @Hollywood Hulk Hogan wouldn't stop crying about how all his dumb and mati rates were destroying his false liberal NPC worldview and he needed the jannies to come in and protect him from being redpilled.

There are a ton of weird gay cliques on the politics area of the site and it's a huge issue now. It's weird factionalism that has nothing to do with the core purpose of the site and it's eating away at the community. Notice how the first thing people do is bitch about liberals when it's EVERYBODY who complains. You've ALL done it. I get revenge rating reports EVERYDAY from all sides. I'll warn someone for revenge rating and then they start fucking reporting someone for the same shit the same hour. It's CONSTANT.

This individual is absolutely correct in all aspects. I would add that this seems similar to the eventual deletion of subforums such as General Bullshit which was the end result of endless whining, instead of simply taking out the problem users.

I don't see how screwing with the sticker system will fix it. If revenge rating is the problem, then they will just do it on other sections, I'd think.

If this is the case, the proper course is what LurkTrawl suggested: Wall of Shame, then I would suggest bans for both revenge rating and false revenge rating whinging. There is no excuse for either of these, so I see no compelling reason not to go nuclear.

I think that the lack of ratings in A&N and Happenings will make us look soft on Nazis to outsiders. Now, we can’t truly rate messed up things as horrifying, deviant, autistic or dumb. Instead, we’ll be saying “disagree, but I still love you”. With this, we’re admitting that even though we disagree with Nazis that we still love them. That is horrifying. I like the simplified ratings. I wish there were a 'dumb' rating, but 'thumbs down' gets the point across, however we really could use the "thunk provoking" reaction so I hope that gets renewed. Its unfathomable that some of you take 'news gossip discussion' so seriously that you're going to ruin it for everyone. If your comment isn't insightful or funny, just don't post it. You can make that decision! Likewise if you're posting more than five times per day, don't do that. Its likely that you've convinced yourself you have something worth saying when you really don't.
