I've sperged about Rhys's Dunning-Kruger regarding statistics before, and I don't really want to re-tread exactly the same ground, though I'm still shocked that they let someone get a PhD who would clearly flunk an ANOVA class. He didn't even have troon armor at the time, Canada, what gives?
Anyway, his claim that the ranges overlap so there's no problem is retarded, any idiot with eyes can see that there's a statistically significant difference between the means for literally every predictor of athletic performance in mainstream sports. As amazing as ultrarunners are, and I think there's a much better argument for Courtney Dauwalter as GOAT than Serena Williams, pretty much all sports any normie will ever hear of depend on multiple factors that the average male has an objective advantage at over the average female. Duh, yes, obviously, so Rhys was full of shit to begin with.
But we're not talking about average people- that's not what "elite" means. Olympians and/(arguably or) professional athletes aren't random people who trained for a long time (and spent a lot of money). They're people who won the genetic lottery and THEN worked like crazy their whole lives (and spent a lot of money). An example I brought up last time- the average American male is a bit over 5'9" tall. Average heights in nearly all competition sports are typically more like 6'1"- in 2014, the average NFL player was 6'2" and 216lb. Basketball players run somewhat taller, baseball players average about 6'1". There are sports where average height runs closer to the population average, but they normally have obvious strength requirements/advantage, like bodybuilding and MMA. Inborn characteristics matter, and for most people, make the greatest difference in how far you can take your career. A secondary factor is injury, which is also not personally controllable, and also differs based on biological sex.
We're not talking about average people. We're talking about outliers. And Rhys's stupid fucking argument collapses really quickly when you start comparing outliers, which is COMPLETELY OBVIOUS just from looking at "lesbian" dating apps and events these days. Actual factual women who want to date/fuck/marry other women are a tiny minority- even if we throw all the bisexuals in, probably less than 2.5%. Meanwhile, according to a survey by the National Center for Transgender Equality, at least 60% of "trans women" are attracted to women. A 2015 estimate by trans-friendly (so maybe overestimating) organizations hold that 0.6% of the population is trans, and said estimate was old enough that we could at least assume sex parity (it used to be true that MTFs were at least twice as common as FTMs, but I think we can assume the data is hopelessly corrupt now, even if you wouldn't be crucified for gathering it). So for every 1000 males, we get 6 "trans women", and it's likely that 4-5 of them are attracted to women. Meanwhile, for every 1000 females, we have 25 lesbians and bisexual women (but truthfully, 8 lesbians and up to 17 bisexual women, but probably a small minority of that potential 17). Some of those lesbians and bisexual women may identify as male, but they'll probably still be on the lesbian dating app.
So where are we now? For every 2000 people in the general public, what could pop up as a "lesbian" on a dating app is: 5 troons, 8 lesbians, and up to 17 bisexual women (at least 3 of whom will be unicorn hunting). So now all the actual homosexual females fend off a roughly equal number of gross weirdos to other actual homosexual females.
Why am I flogging this dead horse? Because it's the obvious, everyday manifestation of something that might be a bit more subtle: when you start comparing the TAILS of distributions instead of the MEANS, the ratios EXPLODE. Does Rhys's pudgy ass have an actual Olympic chance? Hell no. Is it probabilistically going to destroy women's sports simply to let all the males who genuinely identify as female in? Yes. Are ONLY men who GENUINELY identify as female going to invade women's sports? Probably not.
