Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

NEW: While speaking today, Pres. Biden encouraged mask-wearing "though the next year," and stated that this will save "a significant number of lives."

Wear the mask forever nigger cattle.

I think we're fucked either way. If people riot, they'll blame everything on the right and clamp down on our rightst more. If nobody does nothing, they'll clamp down on our rights more. Hopefully the left riots and there's no fucking way to pin it on the right.

Is this a bunch of Great Reset shit? I love how they want to make you drive a subcompact (1000kg is much smaller than a Toyota Prius) and use tiny appliances. And have to love how everyone is banned from eating beef and lamb, the latter is sure to go over well with certain communities.
You'd think it would be easier to get parts for a Smart Car if that's what our overlords wanted.
I want to believe more and more people will grow angry at the restrictions and the people who forced them upon everyone, but I fear most have their anger misplaced at either people they deem breaking the rules (as if all the pestilence that plagued mankind in the past could have been stopped in it's tracks if people hid in their houses for a month and strapped rags to their faces), or at the virus itself.

It's so stupid. People getting mad at the virus and not at the over-reaction and insane restrictions is like if your father beat the everloving shit out of you every time an ice cream truck drove by, and you started resenting and hating ice cream trucks but not your father.
The idea is too big to fail. To entertain the possibility of this being unnecessary you must first assume that we're in Clown World, else it would seem as far-fetched as Flat Earth.

The idea is too big to fail. You basically have to be a full-blown conspiracy nut to entertain the idea that this shit is unnecessary, otherwise everything you think you know about the world would go out the window.
I don’t get it. Overlords in one sentence, conspiracy nuts in another sentence. So you’re autistic, which is fine.

Let’s just agree that masks are for idiots, and diabetes/obesity is bad.

one thing i wanna see out of this when this all ends is kids who's currently growing up during this mocks the shit out of this plandemic in the future when they learn about worst plaques humanity dealt with centuries ago.
I've tried to explain to people I know how weak Corona is compared to the Spanish Flu, and they simply do not get it. They can't fathom that people lived through something that really killed, without losing their freedoms.

It's amazing how much people underestimate influenza, even more so now after COVID. Remember when people were freaking out last year like, "This isn't just the flu!!"? Influenza has the potential to be even worse than COVID. There are strains that are endemic in birds now that could be catastrophic to us if they attained sustained human-to-human transmission. And considering they keep popping up in China (looking at you H5N1) it's only a matter of time until we have another 1918 on our hands. Not to be too much of a doomer, of course.

At least another 1918 might actually build a better generation after this, in terms of people having to get through a real crisis. Or it could be this times a million. Either way we're screwed, but at least in the former, something good might come of it, unlike this pandemic.

:optimistic:

Or something WORSE could happen. The most selfish and entitled generation who looks down at anyone who disagrees with father government could be formed. Were if you don't clap until you get blisters, you don't care for some toon's life.

The only way the left can riot and they don't blame it on the right is if it's some fringe left-wing group i.e. one that actually has integrity and isn't a bunch of corporate worshipping champagne socialists. But all of those groups lack organization since they don't have millions in institutional funding. Otherwise it's just a "fiery but peaceful protest" like Berkeley, Antifa vs Proud Boys, or 2020's "Summer of Love." All actual violence is just Nazis in disguise.

There were quarantines during Spanish flu, mostly on remote islands (American Samoa IIRC was totally forbidden to outside travel and there wasn't a single case there). Restrictions too--some World War I victory parades in the US and other gatherings were cancelled or people were told to stay in their cars and houses. I believe a couple of American cities even imposed mask mandates.

The difference is that Spanish flu is blatantly lethal to people of all ages, including healthy young adults. It was obvious there was a pandemic going on and they didn't need to market it to the people. Granted, I have heard the mortality is exaggerated because 1918 - 1919 was a year of global famine (and people were not eating well in the years before because World War I) and it was the last year of World War I and first year of lots of other civil wars across the world which would've fucked up the medical systems. It's probably not an achievement for Spanish flu to have killed so many people when most of them were starving Europeans or Chinese who were more concerned with shooting each other than anything else.

Another crucial distinction is that governments didn't try to totally eradicate a disease that can't be eradicated, because that concept was rightly deemed ridiculous. But we think we're so technologically advanced that we can eradicate the Chinese virus, and because we think that we can eradicate it that it's somehow wrong to let a single person die.

Society became so nutered in the last half of the century...

How dangerous is influenza because the only time i hear it pop up is when people talk about that rich kid that gor away with killing someone while driving.

Oh I'm aware, but the fact that you can qualify your statement that only a couple of American Cities (like Philadelphia for example) imposed mask mandates speaks volumes in regards to then and now.

Don't riot. Just don't wear the fucking mask. Put it on to get by the doorman, then take it off. Wear a stupid looking face shield (they make ones with clown faces or animal faces on them) to mock the whole thing. Comply the absolute minimum you have to in order to not be grossly inconvenienced. If they tell you to cover your face just say "no" and keep walking. If they get unpleasant about it, take your business elsewhere. Make it painful, expensive, and annoying for them to get you to cover your face. The more people do this, the more painful and annoying it gets for them, the less likely they are to bother any one person who resists.

The transport secretary has said that an international "vaccine passport" scheme is under consideration by the government.

Grant Shapps told the BBC it was likely that such a system would be introduced.

Former prime minister Tony Blair and Greek leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis are among those who have previously backed the idea.

What have other countries done?

  • In Greece, the prime minister has urged the European Commission to introduce a coronavirus vaccination certificate which would allow "the freedom of movement of persons who have been vaccinated"
  • Estonia and the UN's health agency is creating e-vaccination certificates known as a "smart yellow card"
  • Denmark is developing a digital vaccine passport so citizens can prove they have had the jab
  • Spain is compiling a database of vaccine refusers, which it will share with the European Union. This will ensure no-one has been accidentally missed off the vaccination list, the health minister said

I fucking knew it! Whenever government denies they're doing a thing, you can be sure they'll be "considering" it a week later. God dammit.

As long then someone don't claim then the alt-right had invaded secretly the left.

Or how about to troll them by putting masks showing porn images, anime tentacles and tell them it's the only model you like?

Another way is to turn into a meme various photos of people wearing a mask like this photo of creepy uncle Joe.
