CURRENT HAPPENING: Bam has been on a redemption arc and is at least sober-ish. Tony Hawk made Actvision put him in THPS 3+4 at the last minute.

Don't feel like reading an OP? Well good news you can get full "Quick" Rundowns from Youtuber lolcow essayists. TurkeyTom goes over the whole history and Danknet's video explains Bam in the 2010s.

Brandon Cole "Bam" Margera (born Septermber 28, 1979) is a retired professional skater who achieved overnight stardom through the breakout reality show Jackass. He was a highlight with segments of him performing skate tricks and torturing his parents Phil with pranks. He then starred in the Jackass film series, had his own spinoff "Viva La Bam" and was featured in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater video games.

Popular belief is that Bam's life went downhill after the tragic death of his fellow Jackass costar Ryan Dunn. This isn't true as Bam's first noted official stay in rehab occurred in 2009 over a year before Dunn crashed his Porsche. Ryan's death was simply used by Bam to excuse his degenerate lifestyle. Bam's psyche is mixture of heavy narcissism, arrested development, and most of all a perpetual victim mentality. He also holds a grudge that his Jackass co-stars all have managed to maintain sobriety for years and become functional adults. The internet had its first glimpse into how troubled Bam Margera is with his teaser video "Earthrocker" which debuted in June 2015.
When I created this thread two years ago I felt this video summed up everything wrong with Bam. Since then he's degenerated even further. At least with "Earthrocker" Bam was willing to blame himself for his alcoholism. He'll now blame whatever immediate family member/associate he's feuding with for his substance abuse, most notably claiming his doting mother April drives him to drink. Bam Margera has gone on record repeatedly how he hates his mother and wishes she was out of his life, all because April Margera continues her tireless battle to prevent her son's death. Archived below is Bam's full episode on Doctor Phil from September 2019. Unlike most tabloid television Phil's show gave candid insight on how verbally abusive Bam is to the people who cared for him the most, his mother and now estranged Baby Mama Nicole Boyd.
Bam did take Phil's advice with heavy heart... by getting a shitty prison quality tattoo on his neck.

JACKASS FIRING AND ONGOING FEUD
The 4th mainline entry in the Jackass film series had a troubled production, the once young and wild Jackass crew had turned into middle aged men, Johnny Knoxville turned 50 when it started. As expected with Jackass many injuries occurred, they don't tell you to not try the stunts at home to only appear cool. Also Covid happened which certainly didn't make production easier. Drama broke out after Bam was fired from the production after failing to pass a drug test. Bam immediately went on instagram giving a hysterical diatribe complaining over he was abused. Followup videos appeared after and Bam started a PR Campaign to boycott Jackass Forever.

The lasting impact of Bam's "#Jackflop4" campaign didn't have much of a notable effect on the film's financial success. It grossed $80 Million on a $10 Million budget and was well received by film critics. While it seems unlikely for the Jackass franchise to continue as Johnny Knoxville wanted to pass the torch to a new generation of pain seeking professional stuntmen it's considered a solid farewell to a fondly remembered franchise celebrating wanton stupidity gross out humor. Bam never got his competing CKY Revival off the ground, one can only assume there weren't enough fans to Venmo him $1. Beyond that Bam continues to post inane rants against his former co-stars. He passionately hates Johnny Knoxville who he feels ruined his career. Series creator Jeff Tremaine has a restraining order on Bam Margera.

The same thing happened about a year ago.
Here's an unhinged rant about how he needs to get on Dr Phil.
There's also a video that took place before this where he's beating the shit out of """comedy""" manager, and some from a few days after that one showing his destroyed car. Sadly those may be lost to time after he recently deleted fucking everything.

More of a Steve-O and Chris Pontius fan than Bam. The people around Bam was the best part of his show, not Bam.
Phil calling his wife "Ape" was more entertaining than anything Bam has ever done. I remember in one episode they were pranking Don Vito and he said "What the fuck is this, Ashen Koosher?" and I died. I watched Viva La Bam for them and Dunn. Bam was always a spoiled manchild who could dish it but not take it.
