We're far enough in to vtubers as a trend that it's almost inevitable that Holo will pick someone that made their name and fame as a vtubers.
I know that indies need time to grow and there will always be an audience for smaller streamers, but if Cover continues to expand the EN branch at the same rate then it does seem inevitable.

The western-based vtuber space is so young with a lot of potential. So far we have VShojo who seems to be the biggest group in the west so far and then the rest are, well, indies trying to scratch a living. Currently, big companies like Hololive and Nijisanji are the big fish in a small pond getting the majority of overseas viewers. It will be interesting to see who can rival them, but I feel like there needs to be a larger viewership base than the one we have now. Speaking of VShojo, I think they got big due to 1) bringing individual members with an established fanbase 2) good timing by captilizing on the boom that was hololiveEN 3) the low hanging fruit that is: big milkers poo poo pee pee haha funy

As for EU vtubers, YouTube has recommended me small German vtuber channels in the past so they're out there. It will just take some time for them to grow and maybe they make it to Hololive or wherever.
Here's my bet, this round will be the second time Holo hires a talent and lets them keep their existing character/name.
The application form states that "Your own character model is not required and will not be transferred to hololive English" adding to that they picked up sachi and gave her Ame, so maybe not. If someone like Nyanners got in to hololive they would definitely give her a new model to disassociate with her past self.
I wonder what the odds are of them catching lightening in a bottle again with another batch of EN VTubers, especially another Gura. I only really keep up with Gura, Ame, and Ina and I still have a ton of VODs I haven't watched.
Gura's success was such an outlier that it probably won't happen again. I think the unprecedented nature of HoloMyth, the novelty of Hololive's first EN branch, her cute design, and her past life all contributed to her strong start. Also, the general idea that popular things just get more popular because of their exposure. If something like that does happen again it would probably be someone with a huge following joining Hololive, but as someone's already stated Cover usually tends to pick up people with small followings and raise them up that way.

All that aside, in Kiara's minecraft stream earlier she was asking chat what to name her bird mascot and ironically some of them suggested "Kiki" lol but she played it off cool.

Add in that Vtweeters and indies are looking for another company to rally behind that aren't Holo or Niji.

They know that they can't get in through Holo and Niji due to their high bar for talents, so they are "supporting" independent companies in the hopes that one day they will be invited too

That's oof moment, but I think her fans just thinking it's her German onomatope bird "Kikkeriki." But yeah, her roommate name are pretty similar from her German bird onomatope.

There are SHITLOADS of Mods now in Coco chat did not noticed them before

Long time lurker on this board and wanted to throw my two cents in on Vshojo girls joining hololive.

I really don't think it'd happen from the current bunch of them just from an emotional standpoint. Mouse loves Silver and especially Melody very deeply and similarly Nyanners is really enjoying having close friends since she started streaming with them (she's only been around since a random fall guys collab just 4 months ago) and since then she's talked a lot about how nice it's been. Contrastingly, all the HoloEN girls have spoken how the first month was cripplingly lonely and difficult for them. And Silver has friends outside of Vshojo like Veibei (who she's getting internet-married to in FF14 on Valentines day) and others and I don't think she'd want to leave them.

Then on numbers, Nyanners and Ironmouse pull 6-10k on Twitch. Which matches or beats all of EN bar Gura. So I really don't think they need to leave. Especially with the support for backend development and advancement of their streams now a load off their mind AND they get to keep all their donations. Moving to EN would be a massive pay cut for all of them actually. The only one who might benefit would be Silver, but I think she's too brash for hololive, incredibly outspoken, recently going off on twitter about her chat telling her what to stream. Easily the milkiest... which is apt due to her massive milkers. And she likes it that way.

And on top of that it's looking like they do have the drive to create future streamers under their own banner, no need for hololive. When they pooled their respective streams together for a joint debut raid for Hime Hajime they got it past 18k, which put it at #9 on Twitch at the time. It's pretty impressive.

AND to top it off. They all like saying lewd and crude shit ALL the time. So from their current position, I don't see them actually leaving. They're all "tainted" by Melody anyway. And they're probably happier that way! They're very supportive and actually watch their camgirl-friends shows!

[Froot is an unknown for me, I don't follow her much. And Zentreya... no]

Side note, it's very obvious Nyanners applied to EN, but since they got Gura, I feel that positions' filled... But on the flip side, maybe Nyanners could be the lightning in a bottle Sen to Gura was. Drunk goblin meme-singer / streamer turned seiso superstar... could happen all over again if they got their terms right for her! As it stands, she's better off solo most likely as she is actually the biggest Vtuber outside of hololive to the best of my knowledge and already has a million subs on youtube. What can hololive really give her?

That sounds retarded. Someone remind me to avoid XIV on that day because Cactaur's probably going to be filled with cancer.

I mean, Crystal still has its population of ethots vis a vis ERP celebrities, so that's not much to brag about.

And the people who will report you to a GM for offending them while one of those ERP celebrities openly talks about being someone's slut in Shout chat at the same time. Can't forget about that one.

An artist I follow on Twitter and have purchased prints from in the past is debuting as a VTuber tomorrow. (https://twitter.com/ShyreiFaolan)
The cool thing is she designed and drew her own character, and I believe she also animated her own Live2D non-rigged animations.
She seems to have some familiar looking tentacles to a certain other VTuber. (Who she's also drawn in the past: https://twitter.com/squchan/status/1306693374045454336 )
