@Pocket_Sand!, given your recent promotion to Shadowy Mastermind, can you shed any light on the reckless endangerment charges? Lenny is dodging the question, and it's getting wearying.

I would assume (I'm not up there all the time) that seeing Shaner on/near the tracks, knowing his history, and the fact that he runs a page dedicated to the CRR being "dangerous" prompted them to assume he was meddling with the tracks. If he is anywhere near any part of that operation, they'll figure he's got mischief on his mind. Catching something like a track or signal malfunction on film would be a major vindication of his claims on his shitty FB page. I wouldn't put it past him in his butthurt rage to do something like that. Again, just assuming, I wasn't there. The three charges would be the train crew, Engineer, Conductor, and Brakeman. He's lucky they didn't hit him with the passenger list, then there would probably be over 50 reckless endangerment charges.

Edit: There is a good possibility that he actually doesn't know why he was charged with reckless endangerment. He knows damn good and well why he's getting nailed for defiant trespassing. And on that note, I have to run up to the Finger Lakes next week, maybe I'll swing by the CRR and check in on the DOT project that's going on and have a look for Shaner's supposed deer stand photography site.

I can't tell if he's too oblivious to understand, or too deluded to care.

I don't know, I get the impression if he was really aware, he'd be concocting an especially dumb way of either justifying or refuting it. The only charge it seems he's really acknowledged is the trespassing one, and he both claims he wasn't trespassing and that he was recording evidence of the train's speeding. Both a refutation and a justification. Where he really aware of himself say, being charged with reckless endangerment for trying to derail the train, he'd probably say he was just trying to repair the track or something similarly dumb.
