Faster than I thought it'd go - I figured they would drag it on for another week or so before getting to the conclusion that absolutely everyone saw coming from the senate's first vote on hearing it.
It's a little odd for the cheering, given it means that dems now have the entire day to work on their senatorial ambitions, rather than half a day.

Is there something I'm missing? How is this any different than the senate debating a bill that ultimately doesn't pass muster? I don't imagine that Trump's defense has been paid for with the public purse. Maybe if they're in session for slightly longer than they normally would be, I guess, except that they're salaried. Maybe a bit more security or something.And several million taxpayer dollars.
