No chance that any such bill of attainder would survive challenge lol. Trump has to be convicted and he wasnt. And he wont be. Without a conviction for insurrection or rebellion the 14th amendment is more cope.

Article II details the only qualifications for the office of President. It does not forbid even a convicted felon from holding the office.

Even if the vote made it to the floor, at that point it’d be so egregious that even Roberts couldn’t justify hiding in his cave and not smacking it down.

It’s not like impeachment which congress has plenary authority over and is a sticky spot for Supreme Court intervention. It would be hilarious if this 14th Amendment nonsense gained traction only for Dad to show up and tell them to knock it off.

Jesus, I think this was the fastest impeachment trial we've seen this whole century. I doubt that our government's just decided all of a sudden to unwind its competence back to the colonial period, so I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the establishment's very desperate right now. The fact that we're seeing Dems target sections that can only be fulfilled by majority vote is proof that they've only got one strategy left, which is to just ram through the entire fucking process and hope that everything yields. And now that card-carrying GOPe members have gone and found some semblance of a backbone, the Democrat ram now has a nice few dozen targets to try and take down before it runs out of steam. So what happens next?

Will we see a bunch of old people fighting each other in the Capitol as the Legislative branch succumbs to the same type of factionalism our Founding Fathers warned us about?
