Don't want to derail this thread further, but I'm not "banking" on a perverse verdict. If Trump were actually guilty of a crime they would go through the CJS, but because he's not we will instead have vindictive lawsuits and DA/AG led witch hunts which will go nowhere.

As HumanHive and others have already pointed out the more legal options get, the weaker the dems case will be. This impeachment was a farce that only was allowed to stand because anything goes in impeachment hearings. It's not a criminal trial, and it's not meant to be a criminal trial. Most importantly it's not meant to be applied to private citizens like Trump.

I welcome any attempts at prosecuting trump though. It will make the Dems look more deranged every attempt and will distract them from doing things that might be beneficial to them like HR.1.

The point is that "deranged dems" exist in the civil court system as much as anywhere else (if not more, given the leanings of the average civil case lawyer). That fact may give you a perverse kind of glee, but that doesn't make it right, or mean that it won't have repercussions.
Much of the US political system until Obama was steeped in the idea of "non-retaliation." Leave outgoing politicians and their policies alone until the new legislature has time to decide real priorities, not vindictive action. Don't make the policy itself personal, and keep your politics away from your personal spats. Leave the courts out of it.

Have you gone through the American education system? I'm amazed half the kids in America even know what the Constitution is. You really can't expect them to know HOW the government works or why its set up the way it is. Most people think the President is an elected king for 4 years and the House and Senate should do what he wants or oppose him unquestioningly based on which party is in charge in the White House and Congress. Can the Senate convict Trump and ban him from ever holding office? Is so, I guess the impeachment might not be totally worthless (from the Democrats' preservative) … although I should note that Trump might not want to run in 2024 and all the informal sanctions he's getting (i.e. being deplatformed, loosing future access to banks, etc.) would be enough to dissuade him from running again. Also, at this point, I think the Trump children, who are younger and less burdened by Trump's most obvious character flaws, might be the bigger political threats.

After Schoen and Van Der Veen picked up the massive slack Castor caused on Tuesday and helped hit home Trump's defense, McConnell having to go super cuck level 3 to appease DC, people are seeing more and more who the fuck cares about mean tweets.

It was said about the USSR that they can have incredibly strong armor but be dying from cancer at the same time, and this is what today felt like. It sure looks strong with the media supporting the left, but now that even the middling republicans didn't cuck out, there's a good feeling. Now even if they try that 14th amendment bullshit they can't hold on to taking down Trump, any worthwhile reporter will be marking the constant failings of Biden, the RINOs like Haley are being hit with a resounding "fuck off," and we might even get some karmic justice with a senator from Georgia or Arizona being revealed to be a mega pedo who was texting Lincoln Project people about new victims.
